[NSFW] Ever witnessed someone viewing porn at work or in a public area?

Asked by erichw1504 (26448points) May 12th, 2011

So, I was watching Debbie Does Dallas at work earlier and I thought… no, I’m just kidding.

Have you ever seen someone doing this at work or say, at a library or coffee shop? What was your reaction? Did you say something? How obvious was it? Did anything happen to them? What kind of porn was it? Video or pictures? Softcore or hardcore? Were there children around?

If you haven’t, imagine that you have and what your reaction would be.

If you have ever actually done this yourself, why’d you do it? Did anyone notice? Where were you?

What are the limits to viewing such material in public places? Do you think it’s OK to look at half-naked men or women in public?

Pssh, yeah, my college library. I’m guessing it happens all the time. I’ve witnessed it at least 3 times over the 2ish years I’ve been here, and oddly enough, 2 of those 3 times were during finals weeks.
I don’t have a problem with people looking at that type of thing in public, but I sure wish I didn’t have to look at it when they did. They should at least either be able to or have the common decency to hide it when someone walks behind them or something.

I have not yet seen it this week yet, though. Perhaps this finals week has been fairly slow.

I have never seen it myself but I do know someone who almost got caught viewing naughty email pics at a public library! Shame on her!! ;)

If you can call a shared living room in my house a public space, then yes I have. The roommate was watching a porn flick on television. I only noticed it when I got up after going to bed and catching a glimpse of the TV through my bedroom window and into the living room. I just went back to bed. I certainly wasn’t about to go out there and discover how much he was enjoying it while camped out in his recliner.

Two former co-workers were terminated for participating in porn while at work. One was caught downloading it on the company’s computer. The other was making calls to 900#s on the fax machine phone line.

Yep. for work I have to review and find people who do this and turn it over to Security and HR.

Some people are just plain stupid!

I have been called over to restart a computer in the library that a previous student has been viewing porn on.

Last year, at the airport. Some guy trying to nonchalantly view nude images on his laptop.

Confirmed that my kids were not in the immediate vicinity and forgot about it.

Yeah but I wasn’t bothered by it [ not even sex in public wasn’t able to make me feel sick ]

People sometimes do that for the thrill of not getting caught WHILE others want to get caught.

@Cruiser That is so not true! XD

@lucillelucillelucille I told you she would never admit to it! XD

I don’t think so, but I really don’t spend a whole lot of time looking at other people’s computers. I have a privacy screen on mine as a way of saying “None of your business”, even though I don’t look at porn in public.

@MyNewtBoobs ”...even though I don’t look at porn in public.”

Riiiiiight.

I saw someone driving down the road with porn on the built in back seat DVD player one night.

@erichw1504 I don’t. I don’t enjoy watching porn if I can’t really do anything about it. I don’t get people that go to classes that have no attendance policies, and then watch porn. Why wouldn’t you just stay home??!?!

One of my old bosses had a pal who’d forward him things. If he thought it was funny, he’d shriek for us to “Come see this weird thing happening!”

His pal sent him some really weird things. If I had a “Weird Porn to See” bucket list, I can safely say that 90% is now crossed off.

I used to work in a warehouse with a group of men who would watch porn on their lunchbreaks! It was no secret.

No but I am not terribly observant and I don’t really look at what other people are doing on their laptops etc.

No I haven’t witnessed such a thing, but I did see a vdo of a guy on a computer looking at porn, and he turned around and noticed someone staring at him. The someone staring at him was obviously camming him watching porn. It was an uber-fail that was quite hilarious.

Long ago I used to hit the public library to use their internet. I was waiting for this dude on the computer I was assigned to get off, and saw he was viewing all this porn. When he left I sit down, and all these porn pages and adds are up. The whole fucking computer was frozen…I managed to get rid of it all eventually, but the whole time I’m like, damnit if someone walks by they’re gonna think I looked all that stuff up.

On a bus in Mexico a teenage boy sitting in front of me watched porn on his phone. I could see the whole thing.

My friend was babysitting today and the six year old girl found a porn DVD in the park. It had graphic images of two men engaging in acts this girl couldn’t recognize. Poor thing.

In Vegas, they hand out porno ads on the street with porno on them…

I work in a college library where we have actually had geniuses try to send pornographic pictures to our printers! We have also had the police out to arrest someone viewing child porn. I haven’t ever caught a student viewing porn, only members of the community who use our computers.

Occasionally, Playboy type pictures are via our intranet, so what? No big deal. Sometimes you need to break the tension.
