What is edge?

Is it for iPod though or iPhone?

only for iphones. its the internet that comes with at&t plan, and is avaliable anywhere, but is kinda slow.

at&t uses edge network for the iPhone to browse the web when not connected to a wifi hotspot

Yeah, to the first poster… EDGE isn’t exclusive to AT&T. I use EDGE on T-Mobile. It’s just an internet Network that’s all.

EDGE stands for Enhanced Datarate for GSM Evolution. It’s based on the global GSM phone standard. This and other internet connections, such as 3G and GPRS, are called cellular data networks. Between the iPhone and iPod, only the iPhone can use this data network, along with 3G, because it is a cellular device. The iPod Touch is not a cell phone and therefore cannot use either. However, it can use Wi-Fi and, I believe, GPRS for the Maps application.
