What are some good birthday party ideas for a seven year old?

Asked by Magdalene (413points) May 15th, 2011

I want to know what are the things that a seven year old wants to have in his party? Is that music, is that food, is that balloons or some other thing…

Having lots of other kids who will play games, hold balloons, eat fun foods with the birthday kid would be great. Having a costume b-day party will be exciting as well and if there is at least one mascot of his fave cartoon or movie character hanging around, this will delight any 7 year old. And if the budget still allows, why not a real funny magician?

What are the particular interests of this 7 year old?

Have some kind of active activity (freeze tag or the like), and another quieter one (making an easy craft, say). Cake, ice cream, balloons. Fun.

Casting my mind back to when I was seven, a particular girl (who shall remain nameless) OK, Jane… She lived over the road, she was my best friends sister.. I was growing up fast, what can I say!? :-/

A good party includes, food, music, and friends, no matter how old you are.

Why not ask your kid what kind of party they want? Themed parties are awesome!

It really depends on the kid for most of it. What does he like to do, what foods does he like to eat, what’s his favorite current toy? Has he asked for anything specific? What time of year is his birthday (as in can it be an outdoor party or does it need to be indoors)?

Pick an assortment of foods he likes and decorate with a theme he would like. Games for during the party can be a bit of anything. If it’s indoors you may have to stick to things that are calmer, but if you can do it outdoors, you can add quite a bit more.

Boy or girl?
Mostly themed parties based on their current interest.
activities will vary depending on if it’s a boy or girl or mixed boy girl attendence.

Science museum, soccer party. If it’s warm, water activities outside, or science activites. Maybe building something. Rounding up lots of big cardboard boxes, cardboard tubes like fabric comes on and tempera paints, and sheets, can keep boys busy for a long time.

Family Fun magazine has great party ideas.

Some great places are Chuck-E-Cheese, the movies, the amusement park, or just a classical backyard bash. If the weather is nice, throw some hot dogs and burgers on the grill and have a BBQ!
