Is my voice good enough to sing around my boyfriend?

Asked by mistbon (34points) May 16th, 2011

So listen guys. I am new to this whole Fluther thing. and I had a question so I thought I would join. So heres the thing. I wanted to sing in front of my boyfriend. Not like for him(that would be kind of awkward) but like with him like in the car when we are just driving around. But I dont want to totally embarrass myself. So tell me the truth. Do I have an okay voice? Good enough to sing in the car with people? Dont be afraid to hurt my feelings haha. I want the honest truth(: heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3Pf76ARk_E
Thanks a lot guys! (:

I think your voice is nice. Perfectly good to sing along with friends. Go for it!

Thank you ma’am.

Of course, your voice is perfectly lovely.
More importantly, you should be able to let your guard down with your boyfriend and feel comfortable just being you, and all that it includes.

Thank you. I am going to try opening up more.

Nice song and a lovely voice. It is better than just ‘good enough’.

Thank you(: I just don’t want to be that person in the car that everyone wants to shut up.

I am rubbish at singing, but I still sing around my partner. It’s important to be able to let your guard down when with your intimates.

I definitely feel that.

It doesn’t matter if you can sing well. just sing! Singing is an expression of emotion when words just aren’t enough. If someone doesn’t want to hear it, that’s their problem, not yours.

Congratulations. You now have the permission to sing as much as you want when you want.

But for real, sing whenever you want. You sing great and you should never be afraid to just go out there and do it. But I think it’s great that you’re open for criticism. I am an opera singer and you should see how many ignorant people come and audition that think they can sing. So keep on!

Who cares? I sing all the time, and probably sound awful, but I don’t care. Stop worrying so much about what others think.

I’m the worst singer I’ve ever heard, yet my husband still insists that I have a great singing voice. It’s just because he loves me. If your boyfriend cares about you, he won’t mind your voice no matter what!

Kinda deep and manly… oh wait that’s the actual song.

jk, you have a pretty nice voice, and you have my permission to bitch slap anyone who tells you otherwise.

I’m not even going to watch the link, but just say YES. It doesn’t matter if you have the best voice or the worst voice in the world, sing loud and sing proud! If singing in the car is something you like to do, go for it. If your boyfriend’s worth having around, he’ll enjoy it. It’s not like you’re auditioning for his affection.

Is it just me, or could anyone else not hear her voice on that video? I thought the original recording was much louder than she was. The only time I thought I heard her was at the very end.

But, like @sliceswiththings said, it doesn’t matter what your voice is like. Sing. Sing some more. And sing again. It is only through practice that you get better.

Sing for joy. Sing for sadness. Sing because it’s a beautiful day. Sing because you’re feeling silly. Sing for your boyfriend. Sing because you are you and YOU sing!

@wundayatta you’re older and your ears are shot. lol

Nahhh, I could hear her fine and I’ve had several things go off near my head (.50 cal (both the barrett and the browning), SAW, 240B, M4, M16the whole range of grenade launchers/mortars from 30mm-120mm, 105mm howitzer, and a grenade

I am a construction worker, and my favorite times at work is when I can get a couple of guys to sing with me.
Your voice isn’t professional, but it is pleasant. Don’t be shy about singing when you are with someone you are relaxed with.
And next time have the camera on you. You are pretty enough to make that enjoyable, too.
