So, Chrysler/GM will not be paying our government (Canada) back in full. Are/have you (US) been paid...should you be paid?

I’m freaking mad. Wouldn’t be nice to mismanage your money and head down to your bank and let them know that you won’t be paying back the mortgage? And this is coming from a supposed Conservative government?

I’m hoping to hell that this isn’t fait accompli.

Are you American’s being paid back? Have you been paid back?

I know this isn’t technically what you’re asking, but we’re in Social, so I got “paid back” by my father and my husband being able to go to work when the local plant wasn’t forced to shut down as was feared when they were both laid off. I was paid with my livelihood… so… thank you.

@tranquilsea just wondering, since Chrysler is in the process of also becoming part of Fiat, are they going to cover that payment? I’m not sure if we’re going to be paid back in full, but I bet we’re in a similar boast as you. (Of course they probably said we’re paying you back by giving you our crappy cars to drive)

So in the mean time, I’ll be joyriding in my mustang.

Being incredibly familiar with this, I can tell you that the loan portion provided by the US government has already been paid back in full.

The outstanding taxpayer money spent is in stock that the government owns, which at the moment is somewhere around 30% of all outstanding GM stock, and something similar in Chrysler.

The plan is to sell them off over time, but it wouldn’t shock me if they held onto some so they could earn quarterly profits off the coming dividends.
