General Question

Do you have a saying, or personal "slogan" that you say?

Asked by stevenb (3836points) April 25th, 2008 from iPhone

I have a few friends that have sayings, and they say them all of the time, and they know this, but can’t seem to help it and keep doing it. Do you have a saying or motto or whatever that you use a little more often than you should?

“Don’t do it unless you know a way to either undo it, or cover it up.” I forget who said that…Oh wait I made it up =)

Oh… I dunno.

It’s not a wildflower-original, but I do use “sure what harm..” a lot. Oh and “meh” (but that I blame on the wonders of the MTV generation).

It was like that when I got here

Give me what I want and I’ll go away. I used it all the time with my sisters and now my poor husband.

I used to use the word “fantabulous” for everything and then I heard Rachel Ray say it on the Dunkin Donuts commercial and I was so super excited, but everyone started using it! So now I’m don’t really have a phrase anymore.

inconceivable!

I don’t ex[ect anyone to understand this because it’s an inside joke I have with a few close friends, but my favorite original saying is: “I’m going to Zabooland, and I’m never coming back.”

I have one phrase I use just about every day when it’s time to leave work (again not an original, but I love doing the voice too): “Screw you guys, I’m going home”

Bri_L's avatar

Scamp: I know what zabooland is!!!

Wildflowr: do yo do the handgesture?

wildflower's avatar

handgesture? I do the cartman voice :)

scamp's avatar

@Bri_L then I bet you know why I say that. ha ha!!

susanc's avatar

I use the word “perseverate” too much, but that’s because I perseverate too much -
it’s justifiable.

@ scamp not a clue
@ wild flower didn’t he always hold his hands up and then point the direction he was leaving?

wildflower's avatar

good point – I’ll have to check when it’s on later tonight…...I just love doing the voice….do the “but muuuum” too :)

Bri, I’ll tell you in a private comment.

Scotch, scotch, scotch, I love scotch.
I love blue skies, scotch, and of course Baxter!

I always say “sounds like a personal problem” whenever someone tells me something that I don’t care about. Also, I call everyone “animals”.

boffin's avatar

What kind of scotch @stevenb?
Who’s Baxter?

cassy8's avatar

If no one does it, keep it FRESH.

stevenb's avatar

@boffin….ron burgundy, anchorman. And single malt if I can.

plan in advance leave nothing to chance

susanc's avatar

“measure twice, cut once”

“righty tighty, lefty loosey”

I sometimes say, “The hassle of poor quality will far outlast the thrill of a bargain.” It had never been proved wrong for me yet.

I forget who it’s attributed to, but my motto is: “If it is to be, it is up to me.” Ten 2-letter words that mean SO much.

I also frequently remind myself that “There but for the grace of God go I.” I don’t believe in a specific deity, but I am fully aware of how fortunate I am… I have had a challenging life, but billions of people in the world are much worse off than I.
