What do you like to walk on?

Asked by Sunny2 (18842points) June 1st, 2011

When you go for a walk just because it’s a good day to go for a walk, what do you prefer to have as a surface to walk on: cement or sidewalk; tamed grass or lawn; rough trails of dirt, rocks, sticks etc.; or something else?

I agree with @aprilsimnel.
Leaves are fun to walk on. I go out of my way to step on the crunchy ones when on a walk.

I prefer to walk in areas that have fewer cars. In my neighborhood, I can avoid all the major streets and stick to the ones only the people who live there would use.

Barefoot in soft, mushy, mud. You have to be careful of hidden broken glass, though.

A sandy beach is my favourite place to walk barefoot in the summer time. I haven’t had that chance in years. I make do, these days, with trails made by sheep in areas like this….

Here’s what some of the summits look like around where I live….

The ground is like sponge when you walk off the trail to pick berries, thick with mountain moss and comfortable, water proof boots are a must. A long way from the beaches of New Zealand, but nice just the same.

Wherever my dawg takes me, which is usually “off road” & deep into the countryside.
Ahh, bliss, sheer bliss!
