Do you still watch cartoons?

Asked by Joker94 (8180points) June 2nd, 2011

I’m only 16, so watching cartoons isn’t too uncommon for people my age. But does anyone else out there watch them? What cartoons do you watch?

I, for one, love Regular Show and Adventure Time. They pretty much restored my faith in Cartoon Network, something that I thought would never happen after Flapjack and Chowder came to an end. They’re all the closets I’ve come to seeing a cartoon that was has mildly inappropriate humor for it’s target audience, which was a staple of cartoons I grew up watching.

Sure…. Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill. Yep! I’m a cartoon junkie.

I’m 37 and I recently watched How To Train Your Dragon. I don’t really watch any TV cartoons, not that I wouldn’t.

Lightlyseared's avatar

Family Guy, Simpsons, Anime…

Michael_Huntington's avatar

I love Adventure Time and Regular Show, especially Regular Show. I still watch some The Simpsons and South Park reruns, and that’s about it for “adult” cartoons.

TexasDude's avatar

I watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force and South Park. I’ll gleefully watch old Nickelodeon cartoons on dvd when I get the chance, like Rugrats and Hey Arnold.

I know they aren’t cartoons, but I watch stuff that comes on Teen Nick like Degrassi and Drake and Josh because those shows are hilarious.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Hell yes I watch cartoons. I could watch Looney Tunes all day every day and never get bored. I love Family Guy, Southpark, Ed, Edd and Eddy, Ahhh Real Monsters, The Mr Hell Show, ATHF, Happy Tree Friends, Spongebob, The Simpsons, really anything though. I love cartoons. Looney Tunes takes the cake, though.

I have to watch Family Guy being from RI, but mostly the cartoons for my little ones

shego's avatar

I watch cartoons, I have been watching the Flintstones, Jetsons, Hercleoids, Thundarr the Barbarian, and plenty others. I also love watching the Regular Show, and to my surprise My Little Pony’s Friendship is Magic. I guess I am still a child at heart.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Oh and the Flintstones.

_zen_'s avatar

Does Toy Story 3 count? I cried a little.

I love cartoons!! Always have, always will. I am fascinated by every single detail: the drawings, the music, the charaters, the plots, you name it…
-Classic faves: ScoobyDoo, The Flintstones, Yogi Bear
-SpongeBob Squarepants (duh!), Dexter’s Lab, Hey Arnold!, The Wild Thornberrys
-Family Guy, The Simpsons

filmfann's avatar

You’re asking me? Seriously?

Yup. South Park. I also have a grandson, so I watch Scooby Doo reruns and old Warner Bros. cartoons. If I fall onto a Futurama or Simpsons, I’ll watch it, but I just don’t get Family Guy.

ucme's avatar

Of course, having two kids is a great excuse to watch tons of toons.
I regularly shove a pixar dvd on when they’ve gone to bed, coz i’m a big kid like that.
Family Guy, South Park, Looney Toons, Tom &Jerry, Tex Avery shit…...yeah I love toons!

jellyfish3232's avatar

A few anime shows and King of the Hill, mostly. I can’t stand, absolutely CANNOT STAND, Family Guy or South Park.

DominicX's avatar

The Simpsons is one of my favorite shows of all time (the new episodes suck, though, I’m afraid); I also watch King of the Hill, American Dad, Family Guy (like the Simpsons, the new episodes are terrible), and Futurama,.

@Michael_Huntington

Adventure Time is the official show of my stoner roommates. :P

Blackberry's avatar

Bleach and Naruto occasionally.

jellyfish3232's avatar

Oh, I forgot The Simpsons!

Plucky's avatar

Yes ..I love cartoons. Some of my favourites that I can think of right now:

The Mighty B, Kid vs Kat, Fairly OddParents, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Bugs Bunny Show, The Simpsons, Penguins of Madagascar, South Park, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Smurfs, Ren & Stimpy, Cow & Chicken, Stop the Smoggies, League of Super Evil, CatDog, The Tofus, The Replacements, Spliced, etc, etc….. lol.

I have no children…and I watch these shows of my own free will. :P

jellyfish3232's avatar

@Joker94
How I despised Flapjack and Chowder. Especially Flapjack.

SavoirFaire's avatar

Futurama and Cowboy Bebop are my favorite shows of all time. I also watch The Simpsons and South Park.

Brian1946's avatar

I l ve Spongebob!

My wife and I just saw Kung Fu Panda a few days ago.

Blueroses's avatar

I love the classics; Rocky and Bullwinkle, Warner Bros., Pink Panther. I wish Dave the Barbarian and Angry Beavers would come back on the air.

creative1's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf When I was younger I was a huge Flintstones fan, that and the Jetson’s, in fact I just watched the Jetson’s Movie with the kids a couple weeks ago.

jonsblond's avatar

South Park (last night’s episode was one of my favorites, evah) and The Simpsons. Sunday night our family watches the entire cartoon lineup. We’ve become big fans of Bob’s Burgers.

Berserker's avatar

Mostly adult cartoons, and older ones. I have nothing against new cartoons, not at all. However, I don’t even have cable at this point, so when I want to watch stuff, I have to go look for it online. When I go to all that trouble, I usually already have an idea in mind, and nostalgia wins the day over new discoveries. Such is the way of things.

Some old favourites; Beavis and Butthead, Duckman, Downtown, Mission Hill, Undergrads, Ren and Stimpy and of course, The Simpsons. (I do check out recent episodes too) I also like Cleveland.

As for non adult cartoons, I still totally love Hey Arnold! Rugrats, Gargoyles and Samurai Jack. Now if only they had made a Groo and a Xena cartoon, all would rock.

Your_Majesty's avatar

I still like one series 3D cartoon like Over the Hedge, A Bug’s life, Rattouille, etc. I like most PIxar produced cartoon movies except The Incredible. For series cartoon I like some adult Anime that I probably don’t remember the name anymore. I also love the Simpsons and Old Disney cartoons.

incendiary_dan's avatar

I’ve recently gotten into Avatar: The Last Airbender. I’m 26.

Joker94's avatar

Glad to see so many fans of cartoons! I forgot about adult cartoons completely…Futurama will forever be my favorite, it was my first “cartoon for grown ups”. But Looney Tunes will reign supreme in general.
@zen Toy Story 3 definitely counts.
@jellyfish3232 How could you hate Flapjack?!
@Symbeline Mission Hill was criminally underrated, I loved that show…have you ever seen Superjail? I think you’d dig it, if you haven’t.
@incendiary_dan How did I forget about Avatar?!

Berserker's avatar

@Joker94 Underrated to hell, indeed. Sucks that it only has one season, plus an unfinished finale. And Posie rocks.
Haven’t seen that other one, no, what’s the premise?

aprilsimnel's avatar

Yeah, because a good story is a good story, no matter which way it’s told.

I like The classic Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons, sometimes I’ll watch Spongebob, I love Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Fairly Oddparents, the Pixar films, the Miyazaki films. I loved Futurama.

And I miss Ren & Stimpy and Rocko’s Modern Life. Subversive without being too vulgar. Well, I know Ren & Stimpy eventually got nasty in another incarnation, but in its ‘90s heyday, everyone I knew at uni watched it.

Joker94's avatar

@Symbeline They used to air Mission Hill reruns on Adult Swim, I was so bummed when I found out it only lasted one season.
Anyways, Superjail is amazing! It’s difficult to try and sum up, but it’s mostly about the inmates and staff of a gigantic prison in a different dimension. The episodes always revolve around Superjail’s Warden and his friends schemes, which always conflict with the desires of a select few inmates. Oh, and every episode usually ends in surreal, psychedelic fight scene with shit-tons of blood.

Berserker's avatar

@Joker94…damn man. Lol. It’s worth checking out, I think. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

cookieman's avatar

Yes. I like Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes right now.

and I’m almost 40. Shhh.

Only138's avatar

Sure. I’ll always be a fan of the original Scooby Doo’s. (Not the ones with lil’ punk assed Scrappy in them)....and Family Guy, American Dad, and Beavis n Butthead.

Brian1946's avatar

@Brian1946

“I l♥ ve Spongebob!”

That’s a little over the top: I really like the cartoon series, but I think Patrick and Mr. Krab are me favorites!
I forgot to mention that I’m 64, which is probably one of the reasons why I like Mr. Krab.

Berserker's avatar

@Only138 You like Beavis and Butthead? Sweet dude, I love that show to death.

Porifera's avatar

@Only138 Scrappy is so cute too. I have a Scrappy magnet on my fridge :)

Only138's avatar

@Symbeline Hell yeah. I can find them much on TV now, but I used to laugh my ass off. Nicaragua…agua…agua. Do you have Oleo for my bung holeo? heh heh heh. :)

Berserker's avatar

The streets will flow with the blood of the unbelievahs!

Will you find out what the hell a bunghole is???

I love this show lol. Got mesself all three box sets, but I do miss the episodes that were excluded out of it.

Only138's avatar

@Symbeline A bunghole is an asshole. An anus. He needs TP (toilet paper) for his ass hole. LOL

Berserker's avatar

That was when that immigrant guy was requisitioning over at Burgerworld. XD

Only138's avatar

Oh. LMAO ;)

Blueroses's avatar

Forgot about Daria. I love, love, love that cartoon. Bring it back with the original music please, MTV!

Berserker's avatar

In that episode I learned that a bunghole is a hole in a barrel that releases liquids stored within, usually booze. Education!

Daria was also awesome. And yeah, we need a fuckin box set of her already.

Blueroses's avatar

@Symbeline Daria the complete series finally did come out on DVD but they replaced almost all of the original music because it was too expensive to license the songs. I’m glad for what it is, getting to see the episodes again but losing the music sucks.

Only138's avatar

@Symbeline A bunghole isn’t an asshole?

Plucky's avatar

Interesting ..there are quite a few in this thread that I’ve never heard of.

It’s always neat to see ones that are country specific.

Berserker's avatar

@Blueroses…they have a boxset?? Holy shit. That does suck about the vids though…still, I can do without em if the original cartoons are on there. I guess…

@Only138 Well it is, but only through slang lol.

Only138's avatar

@Symbeline I’ll be damned. Who’da thought? LMAO

Idknown's avatar

I still watch anime. To me, that’s grown up cartoons. Some of it is kiddie… pokemon. But then you get some really messed up stuff… Code Geass…

El_Cadejo's avatar

85% of all television I watch is cartoons. Cartoons are far more original and can tell better stories than most live action shows.

jellyfish3232's avatar

@Joker94
I’m sorry, I- I could just never sink that low.

Joker94's avatar

@jellyfish3232 It was a very peculiar show, yeah, but I loved it…ah well, to each his own, I s’pose.
