No.
and you can’t make me ;)

If I’m the person asking the question, I’ll read all responses all the way through. I figure if it was important enough to me for me to ask people about it, the least I can do is read what they took the time to write. :)

If I’m just reading, then it all depends on whether the response holds my interest…

dannyc's avatar

I only read a long answer from people I have determined are knowledgeable about the subject matter at hand.

If it’s someone who is frequently long winded, I’ll read a dozen lines to see if I’m still interested and then keep reading or move on. And as @derekfnord says, if it’s an answer to a question I asked, I read it all the way through, regardless.

The secret is to skim especially if you are familiar with that person and your minds eye can use predictive text. It works.

zenvelo's avatar

I usually skim them, unless the first paragraph or so is really intriguing.

jonsblond's avatar

I’ll read it all if it is someone answering a question I asked.

I’ve noticed which users need to get the last word in. If the response isn’t directed at me, I usually skim those responses or completely ignore them.

Buttonstc's avatar

I’m one of these obsessive readers and read everything (even all the text and ingredient list on the backs of cereal boxes as I sit there munching.)

I’ve always been this way. I spent my childhood with my nose in one book or another constantly.

:)

XOIIO's avatar

Yeah, I skim over it quickly to get the main idea, and figure it all out by the comments I skim as I scroll down to answer. I just did it with this one XD

trickface's avatar

Depends if they write like Bryson or Britney.

Your_Majesty's avatar

I read all. I don’t read and answer long-written question when I’m busy or hasty.

erichw1504's avatar

I don’t read any answer longer than 2 or 3 words.

@ToastTime Thanks, the check is in the mail XD

@rebbel I read every word of that.

…up to the first period.

DominicX's avatar

I do if it is worth reading. Long doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better. A lot of it can be filler or pretense. Some people seem to think that not reading something long indicates that you are “dumb”, when it really depends on what you are reading and how well-written it is.

erichw1504's avatar

@DominicX “Long doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better.” That’s what she said.

FutureMemory's avatar

Unfortunately I often skip answers that are more than a few paragraphs.

I can’t remember the last time I read anything Iamthemob wrote.

gailcalled's avatar

If it is well-written and has breaks and doesn’t have too much repetition and I am interested in the subject, I will try.

The “wall-of-text” makes my eyes ache so I always move right along.

Sometimes if I am in the mood, I will consider how to edit the question in order to make it shorter yet just as informative.

Berserker's avatar

@rebbel What the fuck was that, an incantation?

chyna's avatar

Three sentences and I’m out. I have a short attention span.

keobooks's avatar

I try to keep short, but I’m terrible. My long posts are just a poor writing habit of mine. I don’t blame anyone for not reading my longer ones. I rarely read all the way through posts half as long as my worst ones.

MilkyWay's avatar

@rebbel I’ll eat my hat if you say that you typed that response and didn’t copy and paste it.

@queenie

How about your tiara?”

bkcunningham's avatar

Lorem Ipsum. @rebbel used a dummy text to try and make a point. It is used in the typesetting and printing industry to dummy books or other printed materials as examples of layouts.

rebbel's avatar

Your hat is safe @queenie , and @bkcunningham is right, i tried to make a point not sure if i succeed….

erichw1504's avatar

@bkcunningham don’t forget website design!

Blackberry's avatar

I only skip the ones about trivial teen relationship crap.

_zen_'s avatar

I only read the long, teen relationship stuff.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

If it addressing the question I will. If it is response to another answer but it doesn’t further the answer then I might skim over it. If it is two Jellies having a smack down or playing a verbal game of “chicken” I more than likely don’t.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I try to. I really do because sometimes I write long-ass stuff, and I really appreciate people who actually read it…but I almost always drop out before I’m done. I suck.
