Do you often find that your tastes/preferences suddenly change?

Asked by WillWorkForChocolate (23163points) June 20th, 2011

I noticed three major “girly” changes in myself recently:

1. I somehow switched overnight from loving “leopard print” things to loving “zebra print” things. (And I’ve been “the leopard print lady” for about 10 years.)
2. My tastes in makeup have undergone a dramatic change
3. I’ve had to totally redo my frangrance collection (I threw out about 6 bottles of perfume yesterday. What used to be my favorite fragrances now make my nose wrinkle. But my husband was all excited and took me “perfume shopping”, LOL!)

Have you ever noticed that some consistent preference of yours has suddenly changed?

I’ll also be nosy, and ask: what was it that changed?

About a year ago I changed from 100 percent briefs to 100 percent boxers.I have no idea why. I also do the same with some foods. Love it one day, don’t want to see it the next.

@Adirondackwannabe Well I have heard that boxers are far more comfortable and more “healthy” for your man bits… Perhaps you did it on a subconscious level? :P

I switched my wardrobe in one day because I wanted a different style. A lot of my clothes were too big or not form fitting enough and I just didn’t like it. After I bought some new outfits, I donated all of my old clothes the same day.

My food tastes change often. I’ll love something for years, then never eat it again.

I put changes in tastes or preferences in the category of things worth living for. I am not the same person I was 20 years ago, and I would be depressed if I was.

kinda sorta, sorta kinda.
I am fickle that way on certain things.
Other things, not so much.
Well, maybe….
Ask me tomorrow and I might reply differently.

My taste in music has changed a lot since the beginning of this year. It’s gone from the usual pop/dance you hear on he radio to the more mature and serious kind of music, like alternative rock and classical.
My taste in clothing hasn’t really changed much, and doesnt tend to either.
Food really depends on my mood.

Mine don’t suddenly change very often. I tend to be fairly consistent, slow changes. There are times when I want out with the old and in with the new, but it is not so much my taste changing as it is things are getting old and worn out.

My music taste has changed suddenly, and so has my taste in clothes. I still have the same clothes, but I refuse to wear some of the outfits I used to love because I don’t like them anymore. I also suddenly like darker things now.

Sure, happens a lot in life.

While I am a natural extrovert I have shifted a lot in the last decade or so to being very content without needing a lot of socializing all the time. Quality over quantity. My decorating tastes have shifted to modern/asian from long ago more rustic country. My love of animals has shifted to only wanting a few to care for now and not an entire farm full.

My work has shifted from go, go, go, to give me something simple and fun to do, I don’t want the stress anymore. I’d rather make $10 an hour and have fun, than $30 and hate my job. lol Change is good, it is the spice of life, and shift happens! lol

I am rock steady. Never change. Smooth as a baby’s ass. That’s my life.

No. No. Can’t think about that. I’d rather crawl across a floor covered with broken glass than have a life as smooth as a baby’s ass. The thought of it makes me want to throw up.

The only thing I can think of that I change quite often and sometimes on a drastic level is my taste in fashion. I’ll buy something and then be all, “what the fuck was I thinking!?” a few weeks or months later. It would make more sense if I followed all of the fashion trends, but I don’t. It just randomly changes on its own.

Other steadier changes over the years would be my taste in music, food and adventure. I have a much more open-mind when it comes to the “trying new things” attitude than I ever have before.

No. I find that as I’ve aged then I’ve been able to more fully explore things I’ve always been interested in. Some of that has to do with opportunity and/or means but I’m pretty much still “mini-me”.

I usually experience different cycles. I’ve noticed that there are times when I keep some particular type of style for few months then I change it completly, from my cell phone to my hair style, that includes everything. But then, after changing 2 or 3 different styles I always get back to the original.
