Can anyone tell me how to use Avery labels in Word 2010?

Asked by Supacase (14563points) July 4th, 2011

I know Word 2010 is supposed to be easier and more user friendly, but I can’t find half of the stuff I’m looking for!

How can I apply an Avery label template?

Have you installed the templates from Avery yet?

If you have, then you should be able to do a File / New / {Pick from the Avery list}.

No – that is part of the problem. I can’t figure out how. I used to know Word like the back of my hand. This is so frustrating!

I agree, it’s a total pain from how it used to be. (I just went through the process, so maybe this will help.)

If you haven’t already installed templates, you can get what you need from the Avery website: avery.com

Download what you need and save them to “My Templates”. In my case that is:
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

Then when you open Word you can do as I suggested earlier, with the added step shown below.

File
New
My Templates
pick the one you want

I also don’t know why saving templates doesn’t default to the Templates directory any more. That was a handy feature once.
