If I were to ask you for the first song that comes to your mind from a musical [stage/screen] what might your selection be?

Asked by ucme (50047points) July 7th, 2011

Immediate thoughts would be best. Thanks & go!

@lucillelucillelucille Thought you might have gone for a My Fair Lady tune. Still, I did say immediate thoughts didn’t I?

For some reason I can’t quite fathom, “Sunset Boulevard” first leaps to mind.

Let The Monster Rise
Probably in part because I watched it twice last week while I was on a “Repo!” kick, and also in part because @KatetheGreat and I were just talking about this movie. Plus, this is the song from the soundtrack that never fails to get stuck in my head.

And I blame you, because you mentioned pigeons @ucme, which made my brain go to Mary Poppins and from there… chimney sweeps.

OOOOO-klahoma! Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain.

I don’t even really like that musical but it was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the question.

Oklahoma! Like janbb I don’t know why that was the first that popped into my head. Could be random, could be because my father is from the midwest.

I purposely scrolled down here really fast so I couldn’t see anyone else’s answer yet, so I’m gonna go with Cabaret.

OK, now I’ll look to see what everybody else picked : )

Yankee Doodle Dandy. No idea why.

Kardamom's avatar

@Supacase Probably because some ding-bat is outside of your house still setting off fire crackers 3 days after July 4th! Oh, no, that’s what’s happening outside of my house right now.

At the moment it would be Love Never Dies from the show of the same name. I saw the show a few weeks ago and think it’s one of Lloyd Webber’s best.

I quite often have something from Les Miserables in my head to.
