I have never used it, personally. I have heard from a friend that has that the connection can be really sketchy and unrealiable, but the price is good.

Ack. That was supposed to say “unreliable.”

My fiancée and my neighbor uses Magic Jack, though sometimes her connection gets flakey it was more to do with the physical Magic Jack, which eventually broke, than the service over the computer. For my money, I say what little glitches it might have is far better than most cell phones and the price you can’t beat.

I’ve had Magic Jack for about 6 months now, & while it is prone to flaky performance, most of the time it works just fine & you really can’t beat the price.

If you reset it every couple of days it works fine.

The pros are the exact same as skype, however skype doesnt require a USB dongle to work like magic jack. You also don’t need to carry around a dial up phone with you wherever you go, just a pair of headphones. I would look into skype instead.

@Silence04 Except skype isn’t a “landline”.

So, If I move into a new apartment where there is no phone jack, what happens?
