What should i name the kitten?

Asked by amandaafoote (865points) April 30th, 2008

My friend recently is taking care of 2 1 week old kittens for 3 weeks from a shelter, she told me that they need a home so there is a really good chance i’ll be taking one in. Both are boys, the one i want is a younger, dark gray striped cat, he’s the runt. What are some ideas for a unique name?

The cats in my family have always had slightly odd names…....Barabas, Rasmus, Per, Pegasus are some that come to mind.

I like Minou

I like to name my pets after character in my favorite movies. My Cat’s name is Leonard after Leonard from Memento. Witch to turned out to be appropriate for a cat since Leonard mean the Heart of a Lion.

amandaafoote's avatar

Leonard actually does sound like a pretty fitting name, thank you! (o:

You can’t go wrong with a stuffy last name when it comes to naming a cat: Boswell and Bingley are my favs.

When I was young I named my cat “Slut”. Even my Mom used to call the cat “Slut”. I don’t recommend using this name. My age was 16 at the time.

peedub's avatar

hahaha, you could tone it down and call it “slute,” a good way to express the word in public.

nocountry2's avatar

or try Dick

psyla's avatar

Do you pronounce it “sloot”?

psyla's avatar

16 year olds don’t worry about curbing the eye of society.

peedub's avatar

As they shouldn’t.
Yes “sloot.”

peedub, is your Fluther icon a Wolfman or Sekhmet?

peedub's avatar

No, that’s how I meant it. It’s hard to type with all this fur.

I like the name d-o-g spelled out so it sounds like deeoshie, kinda French sounding. For a cat, not everybody would get it and it makes for a good story. However,I couldn’t get my wife and kids to go for it when naming our cat.

I like to name pets after cartoon villains, so Skeletor, Gargamel, (and particularly for a cat) Master Shredder would be high on my list.

peedub's avatar

…care bear, snork, fat albert

scamp's avatar

@breanne I named a cat Gargamel once. We named another one Azreal.

They are adorable! so you named them Rufus and Bailey, huh? Very cute!

wildflower's avatar

They are too cute!!.....I want a kitten :(
Rufus is a cool name. And my mum’s dog is called Bailey – but then, he’s very small, fluffy and he’s the same colour as Bailey’s

eambos's avatar

Now I want a new kitten!

amandaafoote's avatar

…I think Rufus is a girl, it’s too early to tell but there are signs, haha

wildflower's avatar

even better – that’s so cool :)

gailcalled's avatar

Rufus means red. So call him/her Red, Reddy, Redding (like Otis)>
