Ebay Question: Can you specify item location when searching?

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) July 30th, 2011

There have been times when I have searched on Ebay for large items (furniture, equipment) or things much too large to ship. These are usually called “pick-up only” items. Perhaps I have needed an antique side table or an overstuffed chair to complete a room. I don’t want to travel hundreds of miles or pay a shipping van to pick the item up, if I can avoid that. So, I would rather search in the area I live in for that item…or the nearest large city.

In a search on Ebay, is there any way to specify a location for an item in a search? I thought there was, but I cannot seem to find it.

Any ideas? Thanks!

There should be a tool on the left side of the screen that allows you to search for that. It’s been a while since I used eBay, though.

Yes! Here is how:

1.) Once you select an item in the Search box and Categories, click on Advanced to the right of the Search button.
2.) Fill in whatever information you want, or just scroll down to the Show Results box and fill in the Shipping Options and Items Near Me sub-sections. You might also be interested in the next box for Location, which narrows down the current locations of the items.
3.) Once you are ready, click on the Search button at the bottom.
