DVR: Remote connection help?

Hey,

I have installed a dvr with a set of cameras correctly, and can view it remotely using firefox mozilla, although not as good as I should be able to view it on Internet Explorer. For some reason, I can connect remotely through internet explorer, however, no video can be seen- only a black screen. Also, there is a constant error that keeps popping up saying – Web viewer- Connect failed. I am at a loss at what the problem can be. Here is what I tried-

Enabling all ActiveX options under the security tab of IE8.
Running the site in compatibility mode.
Adding the site to the trusted sites.

Any other ideas on what may be the problem?
