What is your favourite play, book or film?

Asked by megzybrahh123 (523points) August 12th, 2011

My favourite play which is also a book and film is by the famous William Shakspeare and it is “Romeo and Juliet”.
My favourate line out of this play is by Romeo and it goes like this:
“I fear, too early; for my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful date with this night’s revels and expire the term of a despised life, closed in my breast, By some vile forfeit of untimely death. But he that hath the steerage of my course direct my sail! On, lusty gentlemen!”.

Favourite book (since TKAMB is already taken) is The Fountainhead. It opened my eyes!!!

Favoutire play is difficult but it would be the one by the Bard with the line: “There are more things in heave and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

Okay favourite film is even more difficult, possibly possibly Midnight Cowboy.

I am a Shakey-freak. My favorite line from Romeo and Juliet is: “O any thing, of nothing first create!” So loaded (for me). TKAMB… same thing- amazing, amazing book. After eliminating those two as choices…

Play- “Othello” and a not-well-known play created by William Moses in 1988— “Telling Stories”

Hamlet, honorable mention to Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado about Nothing.
My favorite book is probably The Little Prince but there are so many other books I adore it’s a shame I only get to choose one.
Honestly if we are going by how many times I’ve watched it and still love it, The Empire Strikes Back is #1 all time.

I’ve really grown to love Margaret Atwood’s speculative fiction, particularly The Year of the Flood. The woman is a prophet.

@mazingerz88 okay, but get ready to watch me dance and sing along with West Side Story. I think Anita would be so much fun to play.

@megzybrahh123 Well it made me realize what a people pleaser I was. And how much I would trying (even unconsciously) to gain acceptance often compromising on my ideas and values. I realized that without knowing, society programmes us to follow the herd. I learned to have more faith my in oddities and non-norms.

Definitely worth a read.
