Do you know any awesome Sangria recipes?

Asked by KatawaGrey (21483points) August 21st, 2011

I’m looking for a good sangria recipe. I prefer it pretty fruity and sweet, but if you’ve got something that’ll knock my socks off no matter what, send it my way. I’d like suggestions for both red and white wine please.

As a matter of fact, we are making Sangrias for a pool party tonight. My husband is the Sangria maker, but I’ll share his recipe. Take one gallon of sweet red wine, about four shots of 151 rum, one 12 oz. can of each: sparkling pear juice, sparkling guava juice and ginger ale or Sprite. Add slices of lemon, lime, oranges, pineapples and any other fruit that suits your fancy. Stir and taste. You can add more of any of the above ingredients to suit your own taste. He also said the juices don’t have to be sparkling. MMmmmm

Just wanted to add something, @KatawaGrey. While I was asking my husband his recipe, he decided to start the Sangrias. He just asked me what I thought about using coconut rum instead of the 151. I’ll let you know how that taste. Sounds good though.

2 bottles of the cheapest red wine you can find. (2L)

1 bottle of fanta orange (1L)

4 measures of cheap nasty brandy

2 measures of tripple sec orange

4 or 5 diced apples, 1 or 2 sliced oranges and lemons, a few chopped sliced and mashed strawberries.

A half cup of soda or 7up and a half cup of champagne.

Let it rest in a refrigerated place for 3 or 4 days before drinking.

For me I like to take my favorite wine which is a french bordeaux and depending on the season I selct my favorite fruits at that time and add them to the wine and put the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, I find the more time the more infused with fruit flavor the wine becomes.

LIke durning the summer I would put in fruits like Strawberries, Pineapple (fresh), grapes sliced, and blueberries.

It looks really nice when you serve it in a punch bowl because you see all the pieces of fruit in the bowl and you use a ladel to take a glass with some fruit with the wine. The fruit asorbs alot of the alcohol so its when you eat the fruit is when you feel the effects of the alochol the most. So its a nice kick at the end of the drink to eat the fruit.

I don’t add anything else extra but the fruits and the wine and all my friends ask me to bring this their functions since its so good.

Kick it up one notch, @creative1, with another liquid. Preferable fruit. I especially love the guava juice. It is a nice syrupy, thick fruitie taste.

Well, the wine and fruit is awesome. There is no doubt about that. Cheers!
