Gut check time....how long do you see yourself swimming in the Tide Pool?

Asked by Cruiser (40449points) August 28th, 2011

No BS…no patronizing….you came here for a reason and ultimately you will hit the road for one reason or another. Jellies come and Jellies go….what keeps you here at Fluther and what are your exit plans?

I have no plans to leave. It feels like home.

JilltheTooth's avatar

I like it here, and I didn’t leave when some things really pissed me off, so I’ll probably be able to weather a few more storms…
You trying to tell us something, @Cruiser ?

Mariah's avatar

I don’t plan to leave. I don’t leave sites when someone pisses me off – there are assholes everywhere on the internet, and far fewer here anyway due to the courteous sense of community we’ve got going on.

The only reason I may leave (or become much less active) is when I go back to school and have a life again, and I’ll still be around on breaks.

Not having a computer would do it for me.

ucme's avatar

No idea, it’ll probably be decided on the spur of the moment. I am considering “starting over” though, getting bored of that big arsed number over there. <<<

Seaofclouds's avatar

I don’t have any plans for leaving, so I don’t know what the reason will be yet. I can think of several possibilities that would cause me to stop coming though, so we’ll just have to wait and see…

incendiary_dan's avatar

I guess I’d leave if a lot of the people I like did. That’d do it too.

JLeslie's avatar

I think about taking a break a lot lately. Even if I took a break, I think I would come here when I have a question to resolve a problem, but I might lay off posting questions about opinions or that encourage discussion.

cookieman's avatar

I’m with @marinelife. I’ll likely be one of the last out when they shutter the doors.

@JilltheTooth No not at all…plus I couldn’t imagine missin out on all the bitchin and moanin that takes place here. I asked this in wake of a lot of Jellies hitting the road as of late and expect we all have our exit plans in place and was merely curious as to what they may be. Mine is when I retire in 15 years and I chuck all my computers in the river!

@Cruiser : So we have a few minutes? ;-)

zensky's avatar

I live here, I pay rent.

Cruiser's avatar

@JilltheTooth You can bet on it especially I can’t wait to see all the permutations of Zen over the years!!

rebbel's avatar

I plan to exit the 3rd of December, 2016.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

If I took a strictly day job where I was on a computer all day working then I don’t think I’d want to be on the computer in my spare time. As it is, I don’t fluther on my days off or during family/partner time.

I’m leaving when the princess leaves. :P

Berserker's avatar

I stay cuz it’s like an online home, I guess. Fun, friends, some drama, it’s all there and it’s all good. Denno when, or why, I’ll leave. Gonna happen some day, even if it’s by default. (site shuts down, I die, whichever)

laureth's avatar

I have had waves of much-Fluther and little-Fluther. They correspond to my ability to deal with the sort of experience Fluther provides (i.e., sometimes full of st00pid, and my tolerance varies), or the amount of free time I have. I’m on a little less during the school year, and if I actually get to buy the minifarm I want, that would require much work (and by default, less Fluther). However, since being made a Mod, I do feel more responsibility to check in more often, if only to poke around and clean up messes on occasion. To actually leave, though, this place would have to become as insipid, wangsty, and intolerable as the Q&A site I left to come here.

nebule's avatar

I’m a temperamental jelly…I like to sit on the edge sometimes deep in the sand but then I plunge…knowing my luck I’ll plunge one day and the Fluther will be gone and I shall be very sad and lonely

Sunny2's avatar

I’ll exit either when it’s not fun anymore or when I can’t understand what is going on, whichever comes first

AmWiser's avatar

I don’t know. What difference does it make if one stays or goes (really)?
I’m leaning more to what @Sunny2 said.:)

2 months 2 days and counting, after this I’m going to the UK, and I will no doubt stop using fluther all together or start using it only from time to time.

Either way, if I stop or slow down, it will only be temporary, I will keep coming back from time to time.

I already stopped using fluther once when I was real busy, yet here I am, spending maybe 3 or 4 hours a day on the site.

Bellatrix's avatar

No idea. Had not intention of becoming a part of a community when I asked my first question and I have no idea how long I will continue to want to fluther. I do feel recently there seem to be less thoughtful questions… perhaps that is just my mood though or perhaps I just haven’t really noticed this previously. Lots of parties and responses to parties and game threads, but fewer questions that generate strong discussion. I love the people I have come to know here though.

You’ll probably have to pry my cold dead hands off the keyboard.

Coloma's avatar

Impossible to say. Fluther has become quite the popular site with me this last year and a half.
I once participated in a philosophy forum for 4 years until the hypocrisy got to be too much. lol

I am a one site at a time kinda girl, no secret discussion affairs going on for me, I am true to fluther in the moment.

filmfann's avatar

I just worked a 20 hour shift. I feel like I might live thru the night, but no telling how much longer.
I expect to be here til I shuffle off this mortal coil.

by the way, I like Schopenhauer’s position that the line from Hamlet was supposed to have been Shuttle, not Shuffle, but was a typesetters mistake. Shuttle makes more sense.

AshLeigh's avatar

Long as @Cruiser‘s here, I’m here. :)

Cruiser's avatar

@AshLeigh Well then you can make your reservations for the 10K, 20K and 30K mansions.;)

AshLeigh's avatar

@Cruiser good deal. :)

MRSHINYSHOES's avatar

I like to be here as long as I can.

picante's avatar

I’m a floater (not a sinker), and I’ll probably stay here a long time, but undulate in and out of the tidepool as my tentacles can tolerate. It’s really more a matter of time constraints with me—I enjoy the vibe here, for the most part, and there are some very fine jellies who keep me wanting more.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

I have no plans to leave any time soon, unless something drastic changes in my life. Or unless everyone on my “if they leave, I’m out” list bails out.

OpryLeigh's avatar

While I am still enjoying it I will stay. My enjoyment hasn’t waned in 2.5 years so hopefully it won’t anytime in the near future.

mazingerz88's avatar

Will be staying awhile. Got the iPad and it’s a snap going in and out.

Joker94's avatar

I have no intentions of leaving. Sure, we can all get into a kerfuffle, but we can just as easily have a solid time talking with one another about some random topic, on some random thread. Who knows, maybe that’s why this place seems like home.

Berserker's avatar

@Joker94 Yeah, lotsa random goin on down here, but as you say, it’s middle name is kick ass. :D

Joker94's avatar

@Symbeline I fuggin’ love this place.

KateTheGreat's avatar

Who the heck knows? I don’t really plan to leave permanently. I don’t really plan much of my future at all.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So good to see your face, love! <3

downtide's avatar

Until I find a forum I like better. Hasn’t happened yet. Not looking particularly hard though… ;)

@WillWorkForChocolate Hahaha, great to see you too! :)
