What are these symptoms sounding like?

Asked by kb12345 (435points) August 29th, 2011 from iPhone

My mother lately has been experiencing a terrible headache and on going dizziness. Along with those two symptoms she is now starting to feel sick to her stomach because of how dizzy she is. She just took an over the counter advil product that the pharmacist suggested. She hasn’t felt any better from taking the meds. I’m a natural worry wart so I was just reaching out to see if anyone has any ideas what this could be? Thank you all.

Sounds like Vertigo.

This could be anything from a transient inner ear disturbance to a migraine to a brain tumor.

This requires a visit (or several) to a Doctor with a reputation as an excellent diagnostician.

The best that any of us can do over the Internet is to guess. That’s not good enough. She needs to be thoroughly evaluated by someone with the initials M. D. following their name. Nothing less will do any good. It could be very minor or deadly serious. Urge her to make an appt. ASAP.

Yes if this has been on going, a check up is a must. I second @Buttonstc

Could be migraines. Tell her to try peppermint oil on her temples. Just be careful not to get it to close to her eyes.

How long has this been going on? Is she dehydrated or suffering from caffeine withdrawal?

Yes, get to a doctor, it could be a sinus infection. Last month I had a bad headache that felt like a knife between my eardrums, and got dizzy when I stood up too fast. I had a deep sinus infection.

I agree with Zenvelo – my first thought was a sinus infection. No matter what it is, she needs to see a doctor.

I agree. Get her to a doctor at once.

Go back to the pharmacy and buy her some otc for sea sickness and see if this helps.

My mother had the same symptoms for many years, its Vertigo.

The pharmacist has this medication in the pharmacy. Its better than those otc products.

Ask him/her.
