Anything happened recently that gave you a jump? Did you get frightened by anything or anyone?

Yeah. We got robbed. Repeatedly. It’s enough to put me on edge. Leaves you feeling violated, but it’s also enough to put you on edge. I feel like I’m being watched.

@ANef_is_Enuf I hope you’ve taken effective measures against another one!

This creep on the freeway tried to run me and all of my friends off the road for the fun of it. (We assume, as we hadn’t done anything to him.) My friend who was driving burst into tears and we just got of the expressway and sat at a gas station for like an hour trying to calm down. The single most terrifying driving experience of any of our lives.

Now and then I’ll say something at work and worry that I’ve crossed some line or other.

Someone broke into my car a couple months back, for certain values of “break in.” I habitually leave my doors unlocked when I park at home, since I live in an apparently nice neighborhood.
I keep nothing of value in it, though they did find my spare ice scraper and were kind enough to leave it on the passenger seat. Not really much of a fright; I was only half-awake, and they didn’t have anything to take or damage – they left the door ajar, but my dome light doesn’t work anyway. :D

Yep, it’s happening right now, since last night, and through tomorrow.

I live in the Sierra Nevada foothills and we are under severe fire watch and alert, with T-storm activity and dry lightening strikes.

Right now it is cloudy and windy and 91 degrees.

Last night was scary, lots of lightening strikes and this whole mountain could go up in smoke easily. Keeping fingers crossed we get out of another wildfire season intact over here.

Yes, a young person I care deeply for attempted suicide a few nights back. I’m not in an accepted position to intrude on their how their family is handling this, it’s frustrating and sad.

About a week ago, some moron ran a red light at a pedestrian crossing, right as I was crossing it. I only just managed to get out of the way in time. My guess is the car was stolen.

Oooh, lucky you, maybe you are cat man, 8 lives to go? lol

I think I’ve fulfilled my lifetime allotment of big frights/shocks/scares. thank god! I was starting to fear answering the phone.

Not recently. Although playing BloodRayne Betrayal, it won’t stop happening.

But on a greater scale going beyond some really tough video game, no. I hope I haven’t jinxed myself…

Tonight I was out walking my dog down the side of the road. It was dark. A car approaches and hits something in the road. It was a solid black dog that must have been impossible to see in time, heck I didn’t know it was there. But it was howling in pain laying there in the street. I dropped my water bottle and we went up to him (her) and it stopped crying. Then the owners come out of the house all upset. It seemed like it was busted up badly or in shock but it stood up by itself. I was waving traffic off with a flashlight so we wouldn’t get hit in the road. They got a blanket and wrapped it up and carried back to the house. I was glad my dog was casual about the whole thing not making things difficult for me, he pretty much stood next to me.

The same thing happened almost 2 years ago when I was walking my late dog right in front of that same house in broad daylight. A dog, almost the same size maybe a little larger ran across the street probably curious about us going by and it gets smacked by a car and dies in the ditch. Only this time the dog’s owner runs in the house and hides and lets his dog die alone in the ditch. It upset me then and it was almost deja vu tonight. It made me want to kick them but at least this time they seemed to care and they had enough to deal with.

Weird, I’m glad i don’t have to work tomorrow.

That’s awaful! Run back in the house and let your pet die in a ditch. What a slimebag.

woodcutter's avatar

@Coloma That’s what I thought. There is a leash law and all dogs are supposed to be registered with the town and to do that all vaccinations have to be in order. It caused a bit of damage to the front of the car and was probably worried about getting busted in so many ways because of his stupidity. Another thing…the drivers both times kept going after. Probably something in their cars they wanted to keep “private” if you know what I mean. Loving your animals ain’t enough, never was. What the hell.

@woodcutter

That is one of my biggest “pet” peeves, I mean, what kind of jerk hits an animal and just keeps going?
I also believe it is the law in my state anyway, that one must stop, if they safely can, and report the animal they they have hit or seek the owner if it has identification.

Up here you see less pets but lots of wildlife. I have drug more roaddkill off the road than I can count. Sad people are so callous.

I went by their house a few minutes ago and asked about the dog and they tell me she is fine but very sore. Do ya think? They thanked me for helping last night so this is some good news, not great, but I’ll take it.
