"Digital performance eyewear" - helpful, or a gimmick?

Asked by fizzbanger (2765points) September 13th, 2011

Has anyone tried out Gunnar computer glasses? They are supposed to filter out blue light, reducing glare and eyestrain. Did they work for you, and are they worth the $70+?

I have a pair. They do seem to make viewing the monitor a little easier, but not $70.00 worth in my opinion.

Please update when you buy a pair.

You can buy BluBlockers or amber lensed sunglasses for a lot less and will most likely get the same results.

@SpatzieLover I’m considering spending a bit more on the Gunnars since they’re more eyeglass-like and discreet for work.

I love the BluBlocker “Club Line” of shades… designed for those “epic nights”... “you are the person everyone came to see”

@fizzbanger Gotcha…My husband is a professional computer geek and wears a “sleek” style of BluBlockers outside and occasionally in while doing work. Personally I can’t imagine him ever desiring to wear any glasses while at work (he had lasik done many years ago & is thrilled to no longer need glasses)

There are a few pairs that are frame-less that look nothing like ones on their main page. I think we buy his on ebay or amazon…so that may make a difference in style. His look just like the expensive ones. ;)

@SpatzieLover Great… I’ll look around some more.

I would buy the PPK chrome ones from thinkgeek. They look really good.
