Is Jango the same as Pandora?

Asked by Buttonstc (27605points) September 22nd, 2011 from iPhone

I’m very familiar with Pandora and it’s advantages as well as limitations I’ve created several well-developed stations and use it on my iPhone quite a bit while driving.

Does Jango offer any features which Pandora does not?

What are it’s limitations compared to Pandora.

I just stumbled upon it recently but there’s a lot I can’t really figure out from the mobile version. So I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth the (relative) hassle of hauling out the laptop and firing it up to take it for a test spin.

Even with Pandora, I had to initially set it up from a computer and it’s still the only way I can edit my artist lists and playlists (which is very necessary to keep it from randomly tossing in everything but the kitchen sink). The only control workable from the mobile version is thumbs up or down and that’s not really sufficient control for best results.

This tossing in of totally unrelated to the station theme stuff is the main reason why I’m willing to consider an alternative to Pandora.

A service called Fine Tune used to allow creating lists with SPECIFIC song titles but dropped that feature a while ago and I keep hoping to find something similar.

So, is Jango worth my time and effort, or is it basically a Pandora clone?

Gee, I hope I didn’t create an orphan here.

Is Jango really that obscure and little used? Or is it just new? Hmmm…
