How to drag and drop movies and music from iTunes to your desktop?

Asked by AshlynM (10684points) September 23rd, 2011

Running Vista.

It won’t allow me to drag and drop anything from iTunes onto my desktop. There’s a black circle with a line in the middle, meaning I can’t do anything.

When I right click on the file I want, and click on show in windows explorer, the new window is blank.

Is there some other way to do this?

Go to your media-files and look where iTunes has it’s “storage” for them, only from there you can “drag and drop” or copy the files… iTunes itself is only a “mirror” to show/hear the files.

Usually, I right-click on the file (song or movie), the click “show in Windows Explorer”, it will open a window where the file is stored then you can move it from there.
That’s pretty much what @ml3269 said but more detailed

I’ve just tried it and I can drag and drop any file to the desktop directly from the library view of itunes.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but don’t know what.
