Google.

Herman Cain and to a lesser extent Newt Gingrich. Still not sure I would want either to head the ticket. But I believe Cain would make a good Secretary of Treasury.

They both answered the questions without too much tap dancing.

Worst was Bachman about answering questions.

Perry and Romney didn’t come up with anything but plugs the books they wrote.

Huntsman, because he seems normal. Why are people falling for Perry? The guy has the same mannerisms as Bush. America isn’t the wild west. I appreciate Huntsman for embracing science, although he’s still a republican.

@Blackberry Uhmmm, Bush won twice!

Blackberry's avatar

@JLeslie But I thought many people realized their mistake keeping him in office. I guess that’s my mistake for having faith in American people lol. I shouldn’t be surprised when voters are booing gay soldiers and wanting uninsured to die and all…..

This is all just….so insane.

@Blackberry I think they still like him for the good ol’ boy persona. Look, if they can vote him in the second time, which was beyond me, I mean I…could…not…believe…it. Then they might even do it a third if they could I think. Maybe he couldn’t win, but he would get tremendous support I think. So Perry has the things those people like, without the history of invading a country that did not have WMD. But, Perry is about to have a lot of trouble, because TX has some negative unemployment numbers the last couple of months. And, the Republicans booed him a little when he said people who don’t want to educate immigrant children don’t have a heart.

@JLeslie I read a great book about anti-intellectualism in America that tackled the whole politicians-acting-like-good ole guys thing. I personally think a leader in such a high position shouldn’t just be a “regular joe”, but I understand why people eat that up, because intellectuals are seen as not like them.

He did impress me with the heartless comment, though.

@Blackberry It’s ridiculous that people want average leaders they can sit and have a beer with. I’m glad you understand it, I don’t.

The last 4 presidents came from Ivy League colleges, it might be refreshng to have a president from a different background for a change.

I have met many intelligent, well educated “average Joes.” What we really need is an electable candidate that comes from outside the “normal” political caste.

I still like Newt. Unfortunately it isn’t looking good for him. Perry is declining. I think as people hear him more and more, they will like him less and less. Hunstman is pushing too hard for a balanced budget by 2013. It sounds good but will never happen. If fact I don’t think it is good for the country, too big a swing in too short a time. Bauchman isn’t gaining any traction nor will she. She’s trying to appeal to a very narrow segment of the population and losing the rest of us. Cain has his 999 plan and it’s not going anywhere. He’s very likable but not electable. Just too much he needs to learn. Santorum sounds good. I could almost get behind him if he came up with a good reason to get behind him. Just nothing impressive about either him or his policies. Ron Paul was, well Ron Paul. That leaves Romney. Polished, knowledgeable, good ideas, just not very exciting. I suspect he will be the last man standing. That’s OK with me since I still think he will be an effective president.

And just to answer the question, I’d have to give the edge to Romney as the winner of the debate.

@Blackberry What’s the name of the book? It’s something I would like to read.

I haven’t watched the debate, but I am going to try and find it online.

But the winners were Perry and Romney.
Why? Because I read an article in the paper today, and it was pretty long, and they didn’t even mention anyone but Perry and Romney until the last paragraph.
And at this point, the way you judge who wins is to see who got the most ink.

It’s just Ron Paul… I feel that he is a no, just no. Shouldn’t be pres. Niet, Ani, No

@King_Pariah Oh lol, well i dont know much about politics but he seems like the only politician who follows the constitution 100%

@WestRiverrat I agree.

@lillycoyote The Age of American Unreason, by Susan Jacoby.

According The Wall Street Journal, Cain won the straw poll after the debate. WSJ I think that is a good indication he won the debate, he wasn’t supposed to even be in the top two.

I watched the debate last night, and there is no denying that Cain got the biggest applause for his answers on taxes and the environmental commission.

The U.S. has a “fetish” for black politicians now. Lolz.

@Blackberry Headline: Republicans catch jungle fever! ... I don’t think so.
