Any guesses on who will win the Nobel Prize for Literature?

Asked by Mamradpivo (9665points) October 5th, 2011

The announcement will be made tomorrow. I have a couple of favorites, but I’m curious who you all think is worthy of the honor this year.

Secondary question: will you go out and buy a book by the winning author to see what all the fuss is about (assuming, of course, that you haven’t already read their work)?

Is there a list of candidates? There’s a lot of authors. I may check out their book depending on what it’s about.

I’ll bite @Mamradpivo
I’ll place my bet on Tomas Tranströmer

Who do you think it’ll be?

I I had my pick, it would be @fiddleplayingcreolebastard! He’s probably not on the list, but he should be : )

@SpatzieLover I’m very impressed. Double lurve for double response. Congrats to your guy.

Now to my second question: what’s a good start for a newbie to Transtromer?

@Mamradpivo This collection is the most popular of his here in the US. I’d bet if you went to your local bookstore, they’ll have a display of offerings you can leaf through.

Here’s a nice audio clip with a reading from Tomas.
