Maybe a gloss would be too over the top? Nice chompers by the way. :)

Maybe it’s a regional thing, because all the fluorescent nail polish at the stores near me is glossy, you have to buy matte finish polish specially, or buy a matte top-coat.

@Adirondackwannabe I don’t think so, I always put a glossy top coat on over it. Thanks. :)
@Soupy really? I have never been able to find a brand of polish that offers fluorescent shades that don’t dry really flat. Then putting a top coat over them always makes it darker. Do you know of specific brands that have a glossy finish for really bright colors?

One of the largest affordable brands here is BYS. I find that some of the colours are crappy, but they’re generally an alright polish. We also have Rimmel, and I think Revlon have a few fluorescent shades. BYS have the widest range of crazy colours with a gloss finish though.

“Neon – a super bright polish that usually dries matte. If they are sheer, you can layer them over a white.”
Well, apparently it isn’t regional.. but now I’ll have to see if I can find this BYS. I’ve never heard of it, but it would be great to find something that has gloss and super bright color. Thanks! :)

@ANef_is_Enuf Here is the BYS neon range: http://www.bys.com.au/Fashion-Accessories/Neons.aspx

Many of the “regular” colours are actually incredibly bright also, more so than they appear in the bottle. For example the “Love Boat” colour in their regular range looks average, but it came out ridiculously bright and shimmery on my nails. Chipped like all hell though.

BYS are sold all over Australia, however you can buy them on Ebay.

Those are beautiful! Thank you!

What is the deal with the “leopard print” polishes?

Soupy's avatar

No clue. I’ve not bought any. They just look like regular polish to me.

Well I’m heading down to the store today to buy supplies for my little sister’s birthday party. I suppose while I’m there I can give the leopard polish testers a whirl and report my findings.
