Best Battery Powered Portable Projector?

Asked by cawlin (138points) October 20th, 2011

I will be purchasing a few portable projectors to use in public art installations soon. So far in my research I’m mostly coming across pico projectors which are not high quality or bright enough for my purposes.

I’m looking for bright, decent image quality projectors that run on their own battery power supply. I will not have access to electricity or generators.

What projectors have you looked at? Picos are rated at 30–50 lumens, hence the ability to be battery operated… a step up in quality would be the pocket projectors (200–300 lumens) that weigh less (around 2 lbs) than the portable projectors (2000–3000 lumens / 4–5lbs),both of which require power from an electrical outlet.

FAVI E3-LED-PICO and Optoma Pico PK301 Projector are top rated picos and both output 50 lumens.

@njnyjobs the p4 at 80 lumens is the brightest one I have found so far. 200–300 lumens is around what I was hoping to be able to power without a generator or electrical outlet.

If you don’t get a good answer here try asking these guys. Answering that type of question is what they do best.

Might want to look into a inverter so you can run it off a car battery. That way it is silent and you can use any projector you want.

thanks @johnpowell that’s another option I’ve been pondering so I’ll look into it more.
