A couple of years ago I had to have a new sewer system put in. The company that put it in ruined my yard. They dug down 11 feet all over the front yard looking for my sewer line. When they put the dirt back, they did it incorrectly and within a week I had 8 feet sink holes all over my yard. They refused to come back. A friend of mine that I had gone to school with and hadn’t seen in 10 years heard about it and came to my house on a Saturday with his backhoe and spent the entire day fixing my yard. He even let me run the backhoe! He has a construction company and does this for a living, so he did a professional, beautiful job. He refused to take any money from me. Wow.

I was at a concert, and had nosebleed section seats.
I was taking a walk with my friend who’d accompanied me to the show, between sets-
and we were then approached by two middle aged people. They just started chatting with us out of nowhere, they seemed nice enough so even though random, we talked to them for a solid 10 minutes. They then asked us where we were sitting – we told them . They said they were heading out but asked if we wanted their front row tickets!!!

I was so excited I hugged the woman, then apologized for it hahah, anyway they were serious gave us their tickets and wished us a good evening.
What a great random gift, and act of kindness, some nice natured people still do exist!

The only random gift I have ever received was a poem written for me.

A shovel, no, two from separate people. They both had character already in them so all I could do was add a little more.

I got a pair of new speedskates one Christmas season. That was a pleasant surprise, because I had been speedskating with a banged up old pair of speedskates circa 1980s. I didn’t get it on Christmas Day, but after New Year’s, that’s why it seemed random.

In winter, I like to speedskate at a large ice oval outdoors.

My hometown baseball team happened to be playing an away game in a city I happened to be travelling through. My family was a huge team supporter so we decided to stop for the night and catch the game. As we were locking up our car, a group of men pulled up and noticed our license plates as being from the Visitors state. They said they’d rather go fishing, handed us their 4 dugout box seat tickets and told us to have fun.

It was an awesome night, being playfully razzed by the team mascot all night and mentioned several times by the announcer. The opponents were a great group of fans! We lost but our team handed us a signed baseball at the end of the game in appreciation for our showing up. :-)

This. My sister picked it out for me a few days before she died. When I came for her funeral, my family gave it to me.

It is silly, but I treasure it.
