Why does ETA radiate so much terror?

Asked by Hibernate (9091points) October 29th, 2011

E.T.A.

Well I know the history and what they stand for but can someone explain to me why are they so feared?
They will not comply and they will not fail from rules imposed by others yet people are still willing to “trust” in their words.

Because they’re basically terrorists, and rather prolific ones at that? Like any other group like that some view them as freedom fighters, some view them as terrorists.

I seem to remember some bombings which doesn’t earn them any points. And I just read on wikipedia they tried to derail a train and do other horrible stuff.

@Zyx Some bombings? Check my link above. Put the word bomb in the find field of your browser, if you pull up my link, and click away on the next arrow to your heart’s content. And that’s just the bombings and attempted bombings.

I don’t know about radiate – I don’t think terrorists are radiant.

Since 1968, ETA has been blamed for killing 829 individuals, injuring thousands and undertaking dozens of kidnappings. The group is proscribed as a terrorist organization by the Spanish and French authorities, as well as the European Union as a whole, and the United States. This convention is followed by a plurality of domestic and international media, which also refer to the group as “terrorists”.More than 700 members of the organization are incarcerated in prisons in Spain, France, and other countries.

The words are English – but what are you trying to say?

@zensky stop trying to ridicule me please. And stop pointing to the obvious about my fifth language skills. You seem like a nice person yet sometimes you act like a jerk. Feel free not to reply if you only insult my skills. Either help or stay out of it. Thank you.

Or… try to explain what your sentence means. I really have no idea what you are trying to say there – and why you would ask the question and write details in that way. Just trying to understand – perhaps it’s futile.

let me explain this another way maybe it will help you.
They ALWAYS say they will cease fire yet after a short period of time they always resort to violence.
They say they will accept terms and conditions imposed by others but they never mean it [they just say it and that’s the end].

What I’m wanting to know is why “people” and governments are willing to trust them when they know they never play by rules. I know it’s a terrorist organization but I always hear “we don’t negotiate with terrorists” yet I saw a lot of peace signing for ceasing fire with them.
