What is trendy in France right now?

Asked by GothamDreams (7points) May 13th, 2008

What is trendy in Paris right now? Louis Vuitton bags and Van-Cleef Arpels jewelry seems dominant right now in NYC. I want something that no one else has yet. Take jewelry for example… I would like to wear something for everyday that isn’t too pricey and doesn’t appear cheap. Any ideas?

Kitsune, an awesome record label, has a line of clothing you might like.

This might give you some idea about Paris…..as for what to wear, ‘build’ the same look with generic brands and add your own touch (don’t be a copycat)....you don’t need labels or big print (and I still don’t get what’s so great about LV, but that’s just me) to make it work.

For jewellery, why not look for something made from unusual material – you can easily find something affordable, but since it’s unusual it’s very hard to determine price-range by looking at it.

the biggest trend right now is trying not to be too trendy…..those crazy French.

Last time I was in France, it appeared to be trendy not to wait on Americans in restaurants. Unless the restaurant was “Le MacDonalds.” Had a good beer at Mickey D’s there.

@knotmyday (nice name btw)
Dont think that’s so much a trend as a cultural trait, perfected over years of practice.

And bashing all things that aren’t French. Oui?
except Jerry Lewis, of course.

@AstroChuck- “Hey lady!” translated into le french is “hé dame !” Not quite the same visceral effect. Thanks for making me laugh my butt off.
And thanks to Babel Fish, as well.

It has always been trendy in Paris for the French to hate Americans. That’s a lot of gratitude too considering we helped bail them out of two different world wars.

You know they did help us defeat the British in two wars, right? We would be still British subjects without them. ‘Not forgetting’ goes two ways, you know.

I do realize they helped us with a couple also but they are a much more ungrateful country, on many levels, than the United States is. But don’t tell them that. They couldn’t handle it.

there is a pervasive anti-French bias in the United States that I have a hard time stomaching. the French are the only culture that it is fully acceptable to stereotypically ridicule in mainstream culture without an even remote possibility of censure. could it be us yanks have a wee little inferiority complex in the face of the vast awesomeness of Gallic history, culture, and intellect? A close look at the facts will show that the French have done far more for the United States (see the Enlightenment, the American Revolution, and Ludivine Sagnier) than the United States has ever done for France (it’s called World War II, not France War II). I know it’s not really the American Way, but let’s try and show a little gratitude…
