Would you like it if there was a fluther forum too?

Asked by Tbag (3549points) November 10th, 2011

I don’t know really, but I think it would be cool and nice if there was a fluther forum, would it?

There already is one, I believe. Is’t that the definition of the entire site?

janbb's avatar

What would it do in addition to the Q&A, chat and Meta sections that we already have?

It wouldn’t achieve anything different. I prefer Q&A sites, anyway.

I agree with Gail – this is pretty much a forum. A wet, psycho, insane forum, but one nonetheless.

There is. You just have to have 10,000 points before you see the link to it.

@johnpowell Is right, I just got the ink to it when I passed 10k. It’s not so much questions and help but troubleshooting and planning our sexy nekkid pancake parties.

What’s the point? We already have the Chat Rooms.

What is the difference between a Forum and what we’re doing right now on this Q & A?

Berserker's avatar

Forums aren’t restricted to asking questions, and specifically discussing/answering them. Forums are discussion boards that usually pertain to one subject or another, (horror movie forums, history forums, there are all kinds) but usually have sections for all sorts of chatting that has nothing to do with what it caters to. Forums are also a lot more open in what you bring to the table than a Q&A site, and how you bring it. There is a difference between the two. Here’s more info about how forums are constructed, and how they work.

But this place here is open ended enough to pretty much act like a forum, only without that many ’‘posting’’ tools.
It’s so similar to a forum otherwise though, and in most forums or message boards you’d probably get warned for going off topic more than we do here. XD

But because we can pretty much talk about whatever we want in many ways, even if every discussion is a question, I don’t think we would need any kinda forums.
