Notepad++ feels… lacking.

As an alternative to what some people find say a steep learning curve and can be heinously awkward (I’m looking at you, Vim) and since I’m assuming you’re using Windows you could try out Eclipse.

Aptana is based on Eclipse and geared towards web development.

Well, do you want an editor, or an IDE? Because for just an editor, I’m still using Textpad, which I’ve been using for years (in combination with WebDrive). But I’ve also used Dreamweaver just an editor (ignoring the visual layout features), and it’s good too.

For an IDE, I’ve briefly used Komodo, and liked it.

I been thinking about the opposite: ditching Eclipse and going back to Notepad++. Eclipse has become a jack of all trades, master of none (except perhaps java). I just don’t find myself using the fancy features of Eclipse 99% of the time. And when I want to add something (like subversion support), it breaks everything.

I agree with jason, I still use textpad and Dreamweaver.
