Have you been diagnosed with low vitamin D?

Asked by abysmalbeauty (2739points) November 14th, 2011

I remember watching an episode of wife swap where one of the wives seemed a bit off her rocker and believed that the sun provided her with sustenance, so she would spend time outside each day being fed by the sun. Anyways, I wish I took a note from her because I have just learned I have low vitamin D and will have to take a prescription to replace it.

If you were found to have low D what was your course of action and what effects did it have on you? Do you now sunbathe?

I am outside enough that I don’t need to sunbathe to get my vitimin D.

I take a supplement. 200 mg a day of a vitamin d supplement that contains D3 (as well as D4).

@marinelife how has that impacted you- notice any differences?

My mum has. She’s started taking Cod Liver Oil capsules and eats a lot of eggs. She also jumps at the chance to soak up some sunlight.

I was told recently that I was vitamin D deficient. I live in Ohio, which isn’t the sunniest of areas! I just take a supplement.
