How do you feel about women who have tattoos?

Asked by Adina1968 (2752points) May 14th, 2008

It is becoming more widely accepted by society, but it seems that it is still not accepted on the same level as men. Opinions?

I think it all depends on the quality of the tattoo and very little on the quality of the girl. I like em.

Adina1968's avatar

We are talking high quality tattoos. :-)

MrKnowItAll's avatar

It really doesn’t make a lot of difference in the dark.

gimmedat's avatar

I have tattoos that are easily seen and I love them! I know what you mean, though. I sometimes get sideways looks from people and I figure that’s an issue that shouldn’t keep someone from getting to know me. Professionally, I get self-conscious at times, especially when I start the school year with new students, but they quickly find out the tattoos are but a part of who I am.

soundedfury's avatar

Hot.

Except a tramp stamp.

eambos's avatar

Location is also important. I dont like the appearence of full length tattos on a girls arm or if the tattoos cover a very large area of the body. A few tattoos that are well placed can be very beautiful.

paulc's avatar

I generally start feeling about the hip region and work my way out from there. Don’t go straight for the goods. Ease in to it.

nikipedia's avatar

Would love some suggestions on good, attractive places for tattoos on women….

eambos's avatar

I like ankle and hip the most, but a small one on the forearm isn’t bad. What I dont like are the lower back tattoos. yes! I’ve broken 1000!

soundedfury's avatar

I’m a big fan of the upper back and shoulder blades, as well as hugging around the edges of abdomen.

Zaku's avatar

Personally I tend to react that it seems like something I wouldn’t do to myself, so tattoos for me are like a demonstration that someone (man or woman) doesn’t make choices as I would. I feel the same way about piercings except piercings make me feel yuck, and ear piercings seem acceptable for women’s earlobes but otherwise just not.

delirium's avatar

Love ‘em.

reed's avatar

Personally I love tattoos on women, they make my life more productive and efficient when I go into a bar. Since tattooed woman have no compunction about having a complete stranger sick them with a sharp object, likewise they will have no compunction about me sticking them. The jackpot is to find a woman with a tramp stamp and some sort of ridiculous tribal arm band tattoo sipping a mojito at the bar, I’m sure to be out the door with her in under 15 minutes.

TheHaight's avatar

I love them, and love mine.
@gimmedat; are you a teacher? I’m finishing up school to be one and my mother made me so mad! She told me I’d never be a teacher with tats, but I think they are so much accepted now, then back then.

gailcalled's avatar

Ladies; or young ladies; keep in mind that if you get a tat on abdomen now when it is nice and flat, you may decide to have a baby or two, or three some day. The abdomen, no matter how you exercise and eat, will look slightly different. (and so will the tat.) Unless, perhaps one of a Slinky?

gimmedat's avatar

Yep, I teach 8th grade. You’ll be fine with your ink as a teacher as long as you remember it’s all about the relationships you form with your students and the professionalism you bring to your classroom.

Bri_L's avatar

I love to feel about women who have tattoos!

Wine3213's avatar

I think for the most part that tattoos on women are sexy. As long as they are of good quality, and not tacky. If a girl is sexy before, then unless she has a huge hideous tat on her face, then it’s all good.

buster's avatar

i heard you count the number of tattoos on a woman then multiply each tattoo times ten and thats the number of men they have slept with.

edmartin101's avatar

@buster Hey that’s a good analysis! It seems to match with reality. I bet the chances increase as the tats get closer to the hot areas

TheHaight's avatar

@gimmedat. Thanks, I completely agree- with everything you said. :)

nikipedia's avatar

@buster: So since I have no tattoos I am a virgin. Neat.

TheHaight's avatar

No its doesn’t match with reality ed! I have one, multiply by ten… That means I’ve been with ten people? NO… I’ve been with only one person. Thankyouverymuch!

edmartin101's avatar

@TheHaight Sorry, I guess I should say it matches with my reality experience. This obviously doesn’t include you

allengreen's avatar

yeah, sorry, but for me, a tattoo on a woman is a hard-on killer, almost every time a butterfly with a wineglass suprises me under the final layer of clothing. Trust me girls, do a nice temporary tattoo and change it with mood fluctuations.

TheHaight's avatar

yeah, but youre making it seem like all girls with tats have trashy “wine glass with butterfly tats”, Allen. Maybe youre just looking at the wrong gals… But mine has a beautiful meaning behind it, in honor of my grandmother. No butterfly with wine glasses for me!

Perchik's avatar

For me, it all depends on why they have the tattoos they do. I could care less if a girl has 1 or 51 tattoos, if they all mean something. I hate guys who are superficial enough to say, well to be frank, most of the things being said in here. If you can’t handle ink on your lady, your superficial. If a woman has a reason she got a tattoo, aside from being drunk, whether that reason is that the tattoo is pretty to her or it means something, then let her be. Get over yourselves.

scamp's avatar

I think they are fine if they aren’t all over the place. I don’t like men or women who are walking billboards. That’s a turn off for me.

wildflower's avatar

I just booked an appointment for next week to get one on my upper back – and I think girls carry tattoos just as well as men.

Bub's avatar

Women with tattoos are totally sexy!!!

cheebdragon's avatar

my mom has 1 tattoo on her ankle, and my grandma has 4 tattoos, 1 on her back and 3 on her face (lips, eyebrows, and eyeliner).

bulbatron9's avatar

I LOVE TATS ON WOMEN!

My wife has five. We also have a matching tattoo. I have a “Tramp Stamp”, but wife doesn’t! She has one that goes down her ribs, and I think it’s SEXY SEXY!

Randy's avatar

SEXY! When done in good taste and by a good artist.

cheebdragon's avatar

I have a cousin who has over 80 hours of work done on her tattoos, she is like a walking tattoo magazine I sware, but they look great on her, she just has the style and personality to really pull it off.

LunaFemme's avatar

I have five, what I consider discreet tattoos. They are all small; I designed them myself; and they have deep, deep meaning for me. Three of them are fairly invisible and I have one on the inside of each wrist, so those two are very visible. I specifically had them made to look like henna tattoos and I am asked if they are henna all the time. Mostly, I tell people the truth, that they’re real, but that I left myself plausible deniability by making them henna colored. Most people laugh and then ask me what they represent. And, of course, by the end of that long winded story everybody is saying, “aaaawwwww” even the guys and how much they love it.

BTW—what is a tramp stamp? Is that on the lower back? I’ve been thinking about getting an Ankh there next.

TheHaight's avatar

lunafemme, your tats sound lovely. Yes, a “tramp stamp” is a tattoo on your lower back, but mainly of kinda cliched things like what Allen green said: “a butterfly with a wine glass”. I think people call it that just to joke around, plus if it has great meaning (like yours do) I wouldn’t consider it one. :)

atr408's avatar

can be sexy, can be slutty. Depends where the tattoo is at

Adam26's avatar

Attention?Obviously we need some.Obviously noone can stand up to me so dont try. No reason!

cheebdragon's avatar

@adam~WTF are you talking about?

atr408's avatar

yeah what are you saying? Or trying to say?

Bri_L's avatar

how about with my hands?

wildflower's avatar

@Bri
Hahaha! Nice one! – actually took me a second to understand (I blame the lack of coffee).

atr408's avatar

I don’t get that ?

cheebdragon's avatar

yeah me neither

delirium's avatar

I doooo and I smirked.

xacrox's avatar

love most of them, love giving them more haha ;)! It definately depends on quality and location though.

Bri_L's avatar

I preteneded the question ment tactally, not emotionaly.

gooch's avatar

I am not a fan of tattooing for either sex. Mostly I think of what it will look like in 50 years from now….Gross

delirium's avatar

It only looks bad if you don’t take care of it. Sunscreen is key. Otherwise it fades and blurs and looks gross.

gailcalled's avatar

By me, to each his own here, unlike the use of relative pronouns.

molly's avatar

i am a tattooed woman so i may be biased but i still think they are beautiful (well, as long as the actual art and quality of the tattooes ARE beautiful in and of themselves), but the general idea of a woman with body art i love.

geniais40's avatar

i guess i have been a little naive to think that most people liked tattoos but i guess thats not the case since i have been reading peoples reactions to tattoos i have a couple of tattoos some on my lower back and some that are down my neck and i love them i think they are vey sexy and in the next week going to get a memorial tattoo for my brother who pasted away 4 years ago may he rest in peace

Hate those kinds of women. Then again, my opinion may be jaundiced by the fact that my wife has 9! =)

jessicar's avatar

I have tattoos and I enjoy them and think most others do too. The only people I have seen give me looks when elderly people.
