What can be done to alleviate the pain from a compression fracture?

Asked by Pied_Pfeffer (28141points) November 19th, 2011

Mom has a compression fracture in her back due to a recent fall. She also suffered from one about 10 years ago, and the doctors used cement/glue in an attempt to heal it.

Because she has osteoperosis, my thought is that she should pass on getting this recent fracture glued again and manage it with pain medication. Her doctor said that the decision is up to her.

Do you know of anyone who has had a compression fracture? If so, how did they handle it? Any recommendations?
