Has there ever been a situation in your life where you thought it was the worst thing in the world, only to find, as things unfolded that you were grateful for the place it led you?

It was horrible, but if it weren’t for the shutting down of the Amsterdam airport during a snowstorm last December, I wouldn’t have spent over 24 hours in line bonding with some truly wonderful people from several different continents.
It was horrible, but if it weren’t for losing Dad quickly to cancer and a sister to a 5-year battle with cancer, I doubt that I’d be able to relate as well to those that are going through the same emotions.
It was horrible, but if I hadn’t lost my job when I did, I wouldn’t have got to spend so much time with my mom in her last months and days.
It was horrible, but if it wasn’t for my learning my mother suffers from depression, I wouldn’t understand her as well as I do now.

I am truly grateful.
