What old rare video game did I play?

Asked by mowens (8403points) November 22nd, 2011

The best way to describe it… is you were an alien with a triangle, or some other geometric shaped head.

Looking back, the levels looked a lot like Lode Runners levels. It was 2d, and you had to solve things.

It was the 2 players on the same computer, and each player got a different alien, each with a different name.

If I had to guess, I would say this is from 1995 or before. Any idea what it was? I know I got it on some sharewareCD, and I didnt have any money to buy the entire game.

Are you thinking of Out of this World(video_game)? It was also known as Another World or Outer World.

@tedd @Staalesen Abes Odyssey had way too good of graphics.
@dappled_leaves Nope that isnt it. Also had to good of graphics. Maybe lode runner was a bad example. Each level was only one screen, and the 2 characters moved about on that screen. My friend and I used to play using the same keyboard.

Given the quality of this game I wouldnt be suprised if twelve people in the world total have heard of it. But, it was amazingly fun.

I think I remember the box art. Was it PC or Apple IIgs?

mowens's avatar

@RocketSquid PC. I remember Alan and I played it. I am not sure about you and I.

I think we might have. The alien’s head was a purple triangle and it had some kind of weird squiggly body.

Wait, did the aliens commit suicide when they died? I might be thinking of a different game entirely.

@RocketSquid I think that is it. I don’t remember the suicide part, but I have a vague conception of the game…. so it might have happend.
