Asked by Bri_L (12219points) May 15th, 2008

If your comfortable please list where you are. Not the address obviously but state maybe and country. For me Wisconsin, United States and gas here is $3.95 a gallon for regular unleaded.

I also posted this in: http://www.fluther.com/disc/13448/do-you-think-that-gas-prices-will-go-above-400-a/
These are prices per liter, so x3.785411784 to get the per gallon price.

jrpowell's avatar

I’m in Eugene, Oregon and it was slightly above 4$ per gallon the other day. I don’t remember the exact price (I don’t buy gas) but something on the board was over 4$.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Im in South Jersey gas is $3.59 and on the rise.

osakarob's avatar

It is $5.83 here in Osaka.

jrpowell's avatar

@osakarob
Is that in gallons? I would have thought it would be more expensive.

osakarob's avatar

160 yen a liter, so I think about $5.83 a gallon or so….could be a bit more in Tokyo I suspect.

jrpowell's avatar

Interesting.. I thought it would have been worse. Thanks for the info.

nayeight's avatar

I’m on the eastern shore of Maryland and its around $3.67 for unleaded.

El_Cadejo's avatar

Why is NJ like the cheapest place in the US for gas, you dont even pump your gas here. Shouldn’t it cost more for labor?

nayeight's avatar

idk but I’m pissed. It might be because its closer to where they get the gas. I commute to school and I go further down the eastern shore to a small town and the gas there at the same type of gas station is like $0.20 higher. Could that be because of its location?

Giddy's avatar

I’m in Northern California, and the cheapest price I saw yesterday was $3.90.

El_Cadejo's avatar

You know whats horrible. The other day i saw a gas station that had gas for 3.25 and I got excited. WTF is wrong with me?!?. You should never get excited over 3.25/g gas.

wildflower's avatar

Not unless you’re a particularly passionate pyromaniac…..

hollywoodduck's avatar

Upstate New York – $3.81—$3.87

Breefield's avatar

Boise Idaho – $3.72

marinelife's avatar

Orlando. Bought some for $3.69 yesterday, which was not the cheapest (saw $3.64 later that day at the cheap station that is much farther from my house).

jrpowell's avatar

@uberbatman
We can’t pump our own in Oregon. And it is expensive here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jersey was littered with refineries. We have none here. So they have to use gas to get gas to us. Now give me a few minutes while I go outside and make sweet love to my bicycle.

I will go down on my bus pass too.

marinelife's avatar

@uberbatman Thank goodness you don’t have a scooter, you might burn your lips on the exhaust pipe. (Grin)

El_Cadejo's avatar

<confused>

delirium's avatar

$3.90. Ish

marinelife's avatar

My bad, uberbatman, that riposte was supposed to be directed at johnpowell.

jrpowell's avatar

No self-serve in Oregon. An attendant must pump your gas. The rest was proof of why you shouldn’t start drinking in the morning.

rking1487's avatar

Bay area 3.99

skfinkel's avatar

I Seattle, least expensive (Costco) was 3.65 over the last couple of weeks. It seems to vary about 20 cents—but I’ve seen it as high as $3.95.

ecogal's avatar

I live next door to a gas station inside of San Francisco. It has been about $4.19 for the cheapest grade for several weeks here.

thecoot's avatar

Wichita, Kansas – $3.69

scamp's avatar

Central Jersey $3.75 And I think the lower price may have something to do with the quality of gas. I noticed a huge difference in my mileage when I was driving in Florida, and someone told me that Jersey doesn’t have the additives in gas that other areas do. I’m not sure if it’s true, but it sounds like that could be the reason.

lillady604332000's avatar

4.05 in Illinois

eambos's avatar

The reason for New Jersey’s gas being so cheap is that the tax on it is extremely low, almost to the point of there not being any. In almost every other state gas tax is much higher.
Here in New York they passed a bill for a gas tax holiday in the summer. What a stupid idea! All that means is that they will charge us more somewhere else to make up for the decrease in income.

spendy's avatar

NE Missouri – 3.69

dvchuck's avatar

Northern Indiana 3.96

Randy's avatar

Waaaaaaaaaay to much!

Allie's avatar

Davis, California and it actually just went down from 3.89 (a few days ago) to 3.85.

dayeshere's avatar

$3.75 in Southern Illinois (Carbondale)

xxporkxsodaxx's avatar

North San Antonio, $3.62

LunaFemme's avatar

San Diego = $4.08 for regular
Don’t you all want to move here & pay the sunshine tax as well??

Bri_L's avatar

First thanks everybody for all the great answers and feedback. I found it very interesting. I was surprised. I thought the coasts would be way more expensive, not necessarily the truth. I didn’t know you were not allowed to pump your own gas in Oregon. Thanks a lot! We pay extra here for something they put in the gas.

paulc's avatar

Just passed a station 30 minutes ago: $1.20 CAD / Litre so like $4.54 USD / Gallon. The irony is that the bloody oil sands (better site) are just north of here along with a cornucopia of lovely refineries.

richmarshall's avatar

Just outside of Denver, CO. Filled up today for $3.69 a gallon. I am so glad I’m not a commuter these days.

Randy's avatar

$3.69 is also what it is here in north central Arkansas. Some if you people have it rough.

kelly's avatar

LA regular 87 octane 3.92 – 4.12

indicatebound's avatar

3.95 in Indiana

will3192's avatar

All the way down at the bottom of Australia in Tasmania its around AU$1.40 a litre which is (argh maths) about 5 of your crazy american dollars a gallon

Bri_L's avatar

@will3192 – WOW thats costsly! Thanks for chiming in.

Allie's avatar

will3192: Haha. “5 of your crazy american dollars”.. Nice.

vbarton24's avatar

3.79 a gallon in bakersfield ca

LunaFemme's avatar

Update from yesterday’s drive-by of the gas station:
Regular = $4.15
Prem = $4.35

I live in San Diego, CA in a suburb called La Costa.

I was talking to my sister when I noticed the prices. She lives in Honolulu & they’re @ $4.04 for regular.

wildflower's avatar

Just came back from the garage: unleaded = 1.23 €/liter = 7.32 $/gallon

eambos's avatar

That’s a bad sign if Hawaii’s gas is cheaper than the continental U.S.

vbarton24's avatar

Regular unleaded 409 400 401 399

Emsrnsb's avatar

4.31/ gal for 91 ( the octane recommended for my car) and $4.09 for regular here in hemet ca.
Makes me sad:(

indicatebound's avatar

Today I noticed this boarded-up old gas station. It still had the sign listing prices: regular $1.25 . . . Ah, the good ol’ days.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@indicatedbound theres one by my house thats .99 cents a gallon its depressing every time i drive by it.

indicatebound's avatar

Yeah, I hear you. When I started driving in 1999 it was 89¢ in WI

eambos's avatar

Well its $4.27 for a gallon of regular unleaded on Long Island. We have some of the country’s most expensive gas :(

gooch's avatar

LA the state. $3.85 a gallon for the low octane stuff. Gas prices fluctuate from place to place because of state taxes. The price per gallon is with that 40% or so of tax included. I hate gas tax but I guess it is a evil we need otherwise we would be driving on dirt roads and loose other government services.

eambos's avatar

Gas here is almost below the $4.00 mark! It’s 4.05 on 3rd of August.

El_Cadejo's avatar

W00000000000 i paid 3.50 for gas today….........wait…i shouldnt be this happy. That is still wayyyyy more expensive than it should be.

Allie's avatar

$3.98 now – barely under $4, but it’s under.

eambos's avatar

It’s up to 4.09…

oceansmist's avatar

In South Texas it’s around $3.89 for just plain old regular gas…

El_Cadejo's avatar

down to 3.45 here now. Is NJ the only place where gas is dropping in price?

eambos's avatar

I hate you. $70 to fill the tank.

Bri_L's avatar

I was, note “was” excited to pay $3.74 until uberbatman posted. Great icon by the way.

Starburst's avatar

10/12/08
$3.55-Atlanta, Georgia
the price has been dropping for a couple of weeks. We are glad to even have any at any price after going without for 2 weeks after the last big hurricane.

Bri_L's avatar

Very cool!

delirium's avatar

Its about 2.78 here, in Columbus, right now.

Bri_L's avatar

No kidding!

eambos's avatar

$3.34 on Long Island. Over $1.00 lower than during the summer!
