Does somebody know what this movie is called?

Asked by Bart19 (1020points) November 29th, 2011

I have been rattling my brain for the past weeks trying to figure out the name of the movie I saw during my childhood. I think it was broadcast in the late nineties, maybe even the beginning of 2000. I can’t remember much of it but I can recall the character Death (a black figure with wings and a beak mask) who was chasing this captain guy that was wearing a red uniform and the Venus of Boticelli (or something similair to that, it was a woman in a shell anyway) who was his love interest. They seem to have been travelling a lot…

I know it’s vague but does this ring any bells?

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Here is the link. : )

It has some…actually a lot of great visuals and one of them was Uma Thurman as that sexy nude goddess in the shell.

Oh that’s sad. I wish Guilliam made another Baron Munchausen movie. It was pure fun. I never knew Neville as anything but the Baron. Did not know he was a Shakesperean actor and that he was in X-Files. Now I do remember him!

This wonderful film was poorly advertised, which lead to it’s becoming one of the biggest flops in film history.
It is my favorite film by Terry Gilliam, and that is saying a lot.
