Can you answer these questions about PlayStation 3 (see details?

I want to buy a PS3, but first I want to ask some questions: How can I watch movies on it? Can I view subtitles when watching movies? Can I transfer movies from my PC; and if so,how? Can I browse the internet on the PS3? If I buy a game and I lose the information on it, do I lose the game and need to buy it again? Can a friend who has his own PS3 give me the games that he bought from the store if I don’t have the DVD? I want to buy the PS3 because my PC does not meet the requirements for playing games at a good resolution or quality. Is PS3 a good choice, or should I choose an XBOX?
