Quickly! My desktop is a blank black screen (icons are still there), how do I put the picture back?

Asked by jellyfish3232 (1852points) December 15th, 2011

It’s my parent’s computer, and if they see that the desktop is screwed up, I will most certainly be blamed. I’ve tried setting the picture back, and it actually says that it’s already selected, it just won’t show up. Any idea what wrong? I had turned on high contrast earlier, and then promptly back off, so I don’t think that would be a problem… I just can’t figure it out.

what’s your platform? mac? windows?

Oh, sorry. It’s Windows 7, as much as that irks me.

This is how it should work. Right-click on the desktop and click properties. You should be able to change it. If it doesn’t work, try a different picture and then go back to the first. If that doesn’t work, tell me exactly what the computer says.

Does it say anything in the lower right about Windows not being genuine?

@johnpowell I expected to see you here eventually, but the problem has been resolved. Thanks, though! Windows seems to be genuine.
