I’ve seen this article floating around and I’m not sure what to think. Any insight?

It is hype and a copy of something that is all over the net.
Here is the Bill HR 1540
112th Congress: 2011–2012

To authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2012 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Rep. Howard McKeon [R-CA25]

You can read the full text there. Note it was sponsored by a Republican. What will Rusty Limburger say about it now?
Hey, what ever happened to the PATRIOT act?

The “potential for misuse/abuse” of this bill is pretty large. Too many ways for people (members of government / corporations) to take advantage of it for bad purposes. The worst part is that this is may be intentional on the part of someone.

@projectilevomit I wish you would ask mods to allow for rewording the title of this question to be more descriptive of the contents. Perhaps include “NDAA set to become law” in the title. Better for searching.

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies Well, I’m sorry. I’m just really anxious and nervous..

Don’t be.

Good for you rewording the title.
