Social Question

NSFW- Women, when I was young, and you were young, did you notice?

Asked by Imadethisupwithnoforethought (14682points) December 27th, 2011

This is not a particularly deep question, but it is gnawing at me now.

I was reading a funny article today about inappropriate erections.

It was pretty funny until I remembered that awkward period between sixth and ninth grade when I got spontaneous erections in school. Everyday. Like six to twelve times a day. And just before the period bell rang to get up and go to the next class.

I am older now, can handle the truth, and I am curious:

Did you notice when boys in school got those?

Any teachers in the community, are you aware of this phenomenon?

@Imadethisupwithnoforethought, since this is social I hope you don’t mind me getting off topic from the start but this reminds me of Eddie Murphy’s line “I’ll just take the F” with regard to him stepping up in front of the class.

Only in P.E. class or during track workouts. I always figured it was from increased circulation and working out hard.

I remember the lunch in 6th grade, following our sex education class, when the girls would walk close to different guys to see who they gave erections to.
Yes, it was silly. 6th grade boys get erections constantly.

@Neizvestnaya I always wore a jockstrap in gym class, getting a hard on in a jockstrap is painful! Sure didn’t happen much.

Lol me and a friend were just talking about this the other day and how you’d have to do the awkward maneuver in your seat so its runnin down your leg to try and conceal it :P

Generally, only if it happened to my boyfriend. I had a lot of guy friends, and they were always joking about having to hold their books in front of the, um, area. So if I saw a guy carrying his books like that, I did wonder. :p

I never noticed….perhaps I’m just unobservant? :P

Never noticed then, probably would now.

Noticed only twice—once the poor guy had to give a public speech in front of all the seniors and… ehmm. With the floodlights, it was pretty obvious. The second was when I was on the swim team and went down to sit on the bottom of the pool in the deep end while waiting for coach to come by our lane, looked up and… ehm. One of the swimmers was emulating a sailfish. I never said a word to either of them.

Other than those two incidents, it was really not obvious, and as a teacher, I’ve never seen any indication of it in class, in the halls or anywhere.

No, I didn’t. I had never heard of such a thing at that point in my life, and if you’d told me about it I wouldn’t have known what you were talking about. Ah, the innocence of youth: it used to last much longer than it does now.

I sensed something here and I was right, just popping in to say great avatar @Imadethisupwithnoforethought XD

What an excellent question, @Imadethisupwithnoforethought. I used to give inordinate thought to that question as a lad, and I haven’t really considered it in… well, decades. It was one of the (several) reasons why I could never bring myself to dance the “slow dances”, even when I had a nominal girlfriend to dance with.

I noticed a few times.

I never noticed. I think I was trained not to ever let my eyes go there! It would have had to be glaringly obvious. How embarrassing that must be for guys.

I never noticed. I looked at faces more than crotches.
