Should I shave my arms and legs too?

Asked by SJA813 (143points) December 29th, 2011

I just got done doing some man-scaping if you will. I’ve been getting in shape and wanted to get rid of my lower back and chest hair to show the definition. My girlfriend kinda hinted this to me haha I figured what the heck. But now I feel really weird having arm and leg hair. Should I shave the rest?

PS I am newbie to this shaving body hair thing, I’ve never really bothered before until now.

I, personally, would be really weirded out by a guy that was totally shaved. Smoothness is nice but….the entire body? Its a bit much. And keep in mind that then your entire body will be stubbly in 12 hours.

I’ve always thought in my heart the reason for a man to shave anything, was to appear as a “woman” might and therefore woman have bi-tendencies wanting that delicate feel on a man. Naturally most men become hairy. I wish more men would embrace themselves. I think a man with a nice hard body who is also hairy is sexy. But that’s just my opinion. I’m a married man and have a beautiful wife. But it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a mans body. My favorite model is Patrick Petitjean. He’s hairy as fuck, and that’s cool to me. Man ditch your “girlfriend” and get yourself a woman who can appreciate the fur. I’m hairy, my wife loves me for who I am, you deserve no less! Viva La Fur! :P (I hope you know I’m just voicing an opinion and in no way do I think you should break up with your gf, to answer your OP straight forward I’d experiment with the “whole body shave” I think the upkeep would be hell though. You’d be shaving… every other day?

Sure, if you think you’ll feel better having it all shaved. But there’s no need to shave it all if you don’t want to.

I would suggest seeing how you like having your torso shaved before you go all out and do your arms and legs.

If you’re a swimmer or if you really like to be hairless, then I don’t see why not. However, you might end up having to contstantly shave in certain areas as the hair growing back can be itchy.

Ehhhh no. Chest and back hair imo is pretty narsty so I totally understand wanting to get rid of that, but something about a man without any arm or leg hair is just weird to me. Also as other have mentioned it will be a pain in the ass to keep up on all of that.

If you have crazy bear-like hair on your arms/legs that make you feel weird, you might go in the direction of trimming with clippers (set it to max length though). Don’t shave them unless you’re a competitive swimmer at the highest levels.

Haha yea that is true I’m going to keep the arm and leg hair, I was just curious to know what others thought. But yeah the back hair and lower back hair I don’t mind it going. Now about that hair around the tush lol

Hairy people scare me…
I vote you shave. XD

Oh sure why not… You’ve got the razor out don’t you? Don’t forget your eyebrows.

Wax. It lasts longer.

Please don’t. :)

I think next time, instead of shaving everything down to the skin… why not just trim it up with an electric trimmer? Then you can avoid the itchy/pinchy period of the hair growing back in and being both unsightly and uncomfortable, and it won’t look so odd that part of you is hairless and the rest of you is not.

I think you would regret shaving your entire body. Honestly.

I’d go with no.

I like a man with hair. I soo don’t understand this current obsession with shaving <shakes head>. Shaving is one obvious traits that shows that we are adults. Historically, people with thin hair were often sickly.

On the practical side: there is a fuck of a lot of upkeep and I have better things to do with my time ;-)

I think after all these years of females being urged by society to shave, wax, pluck and otherwise denude themselves of all hair other than on their head, it is only fair that men should be required to do the same.

Get every hair off your body mate. Get smooth and child like!

I think girls who shave their arms are weird.

Really, hair grows back so quickly, shaving is really only good for one night of looking smooth. Then the stubble comes back in and it looks (imho) pretty disgusting.

My metrosexual ex-boyfriend shaved his legs, chest and arms occasionally. I would’ve preferred it if he hadn’t.

@ANef_is_Enuf The thing is if you just shave it in the way you mentioned. He’d feel like a porcupine.

@whitetigress My husband just trims his chest and back hair; well, he only did his chest a couple of times, he doesn’t go all the way smooth. Very short new growth is prickly because the hair is short and the cut is blunt. That is part of the reason people believe the old wives tail cutting and shaving hair helps hair thicken and grow.

I didn’t shave everything just ended up doing my front and back and the down below spots. Honestly getting rid of the gross back hair and all was nice. I do like my arm and leg hair though, keeps me warm! lol

You can always get laser removal for your back if it is just small areas of hair. Gentlemax laser is basically painless. If it hurts do not do that laser, it should not hurt, that is the old lasers or a bad tech/nurse/doctor with bad technique.
