Let’s be really, really honest here.

Oh yeah.

Take my cable TV, take my phone, take my Gmail and Facebook too, but don’t take my Internet!

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@halabihazem sure, but there are people who use the internet every day. And, then there are people like me, who have lost entire days online. Kind of like today.

If you found the worst crack addict, the worst heroin addict, and the worst meth addict, and combined their addictions you might get a slight approximation of my internet addiction.

halabihazem's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf , you’re right. I kind of spent a lot of time on the internet today :(

The problem is that I really hate the internet, what am I doing here?!

rebbel's avatar

Never use it.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Hah. I was going to ask just how bad it is, but I guess @Adirondackwannabe summed it up.
@halabihazem I have had this conversation with my good friend more times than I can count. We are neighbors, and we talk more online than we do face to face… it’s awful. We will often joke about how we will sit online and refresh the same pages over and over again because nothing is going on, yet, for some reason… never consider just shutting the PC down.

Having the internet on my phone has made it so much worse. I am constantly connected.

linguaphile's avatar

I won’t get iPhone for that reason… the last thing I need is the Internet walking around with me. My Blackberry’s shoddy internet access is perfect!!!

Video games and internet for life! I would say I have a decent attachment. What else am I going to do? Talk to people I probably won’t have anything in common with? Lol.

blueiiznh's avatar

considering it is a tool that is used in everyday life now, that is like asking, Are you addicted to driving a car.

If Al Gore pulled the plug, I would be ok.

SavoirFaire's avatar

Just Fluther.

everephebe's avatar

Not really, but I would probably still go though massive withdrawals… If I got disconnected.

Michael_Huntington's avatar

I can quit anytime I want!

halabihazem's avatar

@Michael_Huntington is the excuse I have in mind all the time. I think I really need to do something about this…

Blackberry's avatar

@everephebe I see what you did there….

Facade's avatar

Probably, but I’m not concerned.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It would be a lot easier to quit the internet than it was to quit smoking! The only thing I would really miss is the information at your fingertips. But that is just a convenience, not a necessity. Not anything I just couldn’t live without.

halabihazem's avatar

@Dutchess_III , you seem to be lucky enough to have the internet as a convenience rather than a necessity. Students, like me, can’t properly survive a day without using the internet. Ironically, using the internet also causes me to spend most of the day not studying, and I don’t even have any account on any form of social networks (unless Fluther is considered to be a social network).

Someone should make a study-only internet :(

TheIntern55's avatar

YES! It’s actually not just Fluther. I could be on YouTube for hours and not even know time has gone by. I play trivia quizzes, somehow get amusment out of Wikipedia, even when I don’t need it, I look up movies I’ve watched, and visit funny blogs.. If I didn’t have the internet, I might stop breathing.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@halabihazem Yes. Fluther is a social networking site. My JOB is internet dependent. So if the internet went bye-bye I’d have to seriously change the parameters of my job. That has nothing to do with me being addicted to it.
I’ve taken online classes, and I took college classes in the 70’s. Of course you could survive, but only if your courses were designed to be classroom based. Again, that has nothing to do with addiction and everything to do with necessity, as our society has now built up so much around the internet.

AnonymousWoman's avatar

I am addicted to the web.

Dutchess_III's avatar

No, it’s ME you’re addicted to @AnonymousGirl! Admit it! Or I’ll kick you again!

AnonymousWoman's avatar

Why, yes, of course! How could I ever forget, @Dutchess_III? :)

lloydbird's avatar

No.

But I do lurve it.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Fast learner, @AnonymousGirl! Sorry about the bruise on your shin yesterday. Is WillWorkForChocolate recovering from her thong snap? :)

TheIntern55's avatar

Do I dare ask what you’re talking about?

augustlan's avatar

Yeah. A little. Just a tad. A smidge, maybe. Like crack.

Dutchess_III's avatar

ROFLL Auggie!

@TheIntern55 She and WillWorkForChocolate were saying “tits” for no reason in the middle of a conversation that had nothing to do with tits! All I did was sniff in disdain a little when they did and then one called me a twit, and the other called me a twat and well….that’s what happened yesterday! It was on Comity’s q about flaming people. They flamed the hell out of me! Or..they tried. Or…maybe I was just imagining things :)

AnonymousWoman's avatar

@Dutchess_III I sure hope she is. :)

Inside jokes are fun. Being a fast learner when it comes to the teases on here like @Dutchess_III is totally worth it as it makes Fluther more enjoyable. :D

Dutchess_III's avatar

Did you try ice for the bruise?? :(

AnonymousWoman's avatar

Oh, no… it healed naturally. ;) I guess nature felt I didn’t deserve the punishment, but doesn’t mind a good joke now and then, even if it involves a little bruise. ^_^

Dutchess_III's avatar

You probably didn’t! I’m sowwy!

AnonymousWoman's avatar

It’s okay. It was a harmless joke. :)

TheIntern55's avatar

@SavoirFaire Haha, I like the name of the website.
