Sprite editing programs?

Does anybody know of some free programs offered specifically for, or good for sprite creating/editing? I mean I have been using MS paint, but as I think you all know it can be… limiting… Haha

If I were you I’d download GIMP. It’s basically the free opensource version of Photoshop and I use it anytime I want to mess with stuff like that.
