How does time seem to flow for you?

Asked by King_Pariah (11484points) January 3rd, 2012

To me, a moment can be a couple weeks, soon may be 10 years. I look back and it just feels like it was yesterday that I was two years old attempting to run away from my parents. Every day just seem like seconds that pass by so fast. How does time seem to pass to you? Does it drag out for you? Or does everything just seem to be in a rush to the finish line?

I remember my parents saying that the older they became the faster time flew by. I didn’t pay much attention to them at the time, but now I can say exactly the same thing. Time seems to fly by so quickly it is almost frightening!

Sometimes I wonder if the earth has changed its course and if nature makes time race by faster. A year to me is the equivalent of 6 months. A week in my eyes is a mere equal to just 3 days. I don’t know if it is just little old me lost in my own world, but I have truly lost track of time. So much so, that when I see people, I may tell them that I have not seen them for about a year, they look at me in horror replying that it’s been at least 3 and a half years! I can’t believe how fast the last decade went, I still vividly remember the millennium celebrations as if they were just five years ago!

Does the earth spin faster? Have we entered another dimension? Am I slowly losing it?

I just go with the flow, but more often than not it drags out. When I’m looking back though it’s super compact, and things that were a year ago feel like a month, and that’s how long ago I remember them. I can’t refer backwards very well.

The 7 weeks of the school holidays used to seem like an eternity. Now time is passing faster and faster and the months and years blur into one another. I have always treasured those special moments in life that seem outside of time.

When you play video games, there’s never enough time in a day.

I was just thinking it’s been twelve years since the millennium. I feel like we just celebrated new year 2000. Where the hell did that decade+ go?!?!

My wife and I are together 24 years this year. I’ve been with her longer than I wasn’t?!?!?!

Then I tally up all the folks that have died in my life….aaarrrgghh.

I really don’t enjoy thinking about this. I agree that it is frightening.

Time is weird right now. I’ve been sitting on my ass for the last 15 months, so a week feels like nothing. I go back to college in just a few days, and I know the time remaining will seem to go by in an instant. I also know once I’m at college and my days become jam packed, time will start feeling very slow because each day will contain like a month’s worth of my current lifestyle’s activity. But the weekends will probably zoom by. xD

Tsdy
Wdsdy
Thrsdy
Fridy
Satdy
(and finally) Suunnddaaayy

It depends what I am doing but it really seems to be flying by mostly. It seems like only yesterday it was Christmas 2010 and now we are in 2012!

I can’t remember the last time time dragged for me. I actually wish I could slow things down. Or have a clock I could click the button on and you all stop while I get on with things and then I can restart you all again.

My goal for 2012 is to have more ‘quality time’. Less work. More play. Perhaps it will slow down a bit then.

I guess time seems to feel like it is flying by.
I assume that is because it is a reminder to GET my goals done now!
