IT issue : How do I get my keyboard and mouse to work simultaneously?

I have recently had to clear my laptops HDD as well as re-install windows, one of the issues I have found with my system after this reset is that I cannot use my mouse and keyboard at the same time.

The keyboard works fine and so does the mouse however when I am holding a key or using a key frequently the mouse’s cursor will seize up until I release the keys. This generally makes navigation of the PC less fluent and is also problematic in gaming situations.

It is as if the computer will only register one command at a time, a key press or a cursor movement, before my reset I did not have this problem. I have downloaded a synaptics touchpad driver but this hasn’t helped.

Note : This is not an issue of cursor speed or sensitivity, that I can solve, the problem is that the mouse will stop working momentarily if a key is pressed and I would like them both to be able to function at the same time.

Do you know of anything that could solve the problem here?
