Chemists or fans of chemistry out there: Which chemist on the radio/TV etc. do you like?

Asked by flo (13313points) January 8th, 2012

And why? If there is one that you find not so good, why?
By the way, I mean general knowledge kind of chemistry. Something a lay person is familiar with.

I’d have to admit Albert Hofmann stands out. I wish his discovery had been allowed to be researched professionally. And if ethno-botany counts, then Terrence McKenna tops my list because of his contributions to psilocybin and dimethyltriptamine research.

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies okay but were they on the air answering basic questions from the average lay people mainly?

For the type of information you are asking about, you might enjoy Joe Schwarcz (YouTube example). He is regularly on the radio in Canada, usually talking about the chemistry of everyday life. Wikipedia page.

Someone said they heard the morningman ask Dr. Joe Schwarcz, “should I wash my barbequed chicken under the sink if it fell on the floor?” Dr. Joe first laughed at the notion of doing such a thing, and then when the morning man pressed him, he said “yeah sure why not.” I have to find out if there is an audio available for his past shows.

…I mean of this clip of the exchange with the morning man. And his show too.
